Dual entry turbo - 6G Celicas Forums

probly sounds stupid. but how can you tell if its dual entry. Also what are the benefits over..... I guess you could say a standard ct-26

Also shin, if you read this, what turbo do you have?

At the current time, my suggestion for a twin entry CT-26 upgrade is to add a TO4E-46 trim compressor wheel and perform a 15 degree clip on the turbine wheel. Those who have ceramic turbine wheels (only used in Japanese spec 3S-GTEs) cannot clip due to the brittleness of the material, but the smaller ceramic turbine is already a little less restrictive than the metal one and naturally supports about 10 rwhp more that its unclipped sibling. For all out performance, there is a CT-26/35R drop-in hybrid available from Extremeboost which couples a low-friction ball bearing central assembly and large GT35R turbine housing with an A/R of 0.85 (the stock CT-26 turbine housing has an A/R of 0.49) and a 56-trim compressor wheel. I have not yet seen a dyno chart of this hybrid turbocharger in action but it should be able to produce well over 300rwhp on a 3S-GTE. In fact, it may even require a complete fuel system upgrade to safely run at higher boost levels on the MR2

Ahhhh! I remember a technician telling me about the dual entry turbos.
Its really good and very helpful for those 4 cylinder engines. The first turbo is the primary one, its small so that it can pick up fast and spool the second turbo, a larger turbo that doesn't spool as fast as the primary turbo. while both turbos in one spin, the small one provides the power that is not present in the bigger one, then when the big one kicks in it sucks up most of the air and the smaller one kinda goes into a regular stand by spin.

This setup is kinda like the Dual Supercharged Turbo setup. The supercharger blows air into the turbo to make it spool up faster.

If U think about it, its a pretty good way of getting fast pickups for a turbo the size of an oil barrell. biggrin.gif

wat are the ups and downs on a dual turbo seems to be perfect if ya gonna get a turbo. mabye the price? i dont kno. first time hearin bout em.

^^^well it says in the alltrack sight that the dual entry is only in the 90-93 All Trac and 91+ MR2
so basicly, the dual entry has the 3 mounting points underneath the turbo (if your just looking at a picture of one)??

i guess that would be correct since my information was related to mr2's -- but don't know about the 3 mounting points stuff
most of these comments confuse the **** out of me. a ct-26 off a 5th gen altrac and the 2nd gen mr2 will be twin entry. it means on the turbine housing where the exhaust will enter the turbo there are two inlets not one big opening. look at this page and it is the second thing explained.>

I got mine of e-bay...
dumb question, but what type of flange would i need for a ct-26 turbo? i want the twin(dual) entry from the st205. the flange i have now is for a t3t4. im either going with a t3 or the ct26. and probably an even dumber question. can you use the same flange for a ct27. thanks/
the ct26 dual entry gasket you mean? if that's wat you mean. the ct26 and ct27 have the same gasket since the ct27 is basically an upgraded version of the ct26

no, on the 3s-gte manifold, theres a flange. the part where the manifold connects to the turbo. on the 3s mani, it should have 2 openings for the dual entry. that little plate with the openings on the manifold. what type of flange is that? is it only for the ct26?(assuming the flange is called a ct26 flange, right?) because the one on my manifold is to go on my 7a and the flange is for a t3t4. i was just told that a t3t4 is kinda big for a 7a and almost everyone goes with a t3. so i either want to put a t3 on there or a ct26. meaning i would have to cut and weld a new flange on to fit those turbos... so the question is, whats the name of the flange that goes on the ct26? thanks.
kind of off topic but someone who doesnt have a ct26 dual entry installed give me the the measurements of the mouting holes? is it square? i need the lenth and widths from hole to hole, thanks! smile.gif

joker, your flange will either br a T3 or a T4...theres no such thing as a t3/4 flange.
more than likley, its a T3 flange, and in your case, with the 7a, i'd be looking for a T3..what is it dan...50trim?
just for future refrence, when you see t3/4...basicly what it means is its a hybrid turbo, with a t4 compressor side/wheel with a t3 exhuast housing.

soulshadow - thats the definition of twin-turbo setup. MKIV Supra, 300Z....

Duel entry turbo's (or twin entry) have a divided housing to better utilize the exhaust gases and eliminate back pressure. In order for it to have any effect, the exhaust manifold must also be setup to isolate the runners (or at least the cylinder pairs) until they reach the turbo. The stock 3SGTE manifold does this, and I know the turbonetics 3SGTE manifold does too. If your manifold is one of the log designs, with one big collector that all the runners join at, then a duel entry will have no effect.

JoKeRkId613 - Its a CT26 flange. Kinda hard to find, I ended up having one cut cut using the gasket as a template. Its almost a sideways T4.
