ceramic pad recomendations? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #31766 23 posts Started by lagos

im looking to get some recomendations on the ceramic pads they have on tirerack.com . about a year ago, i bought a set of Satisfied Pro ceramic pads. they are a little noisy, low dust, but now after 1yr it sounds like they are already worn because im hearing my wear indicators.

so now im wanting to try something new. any recomendations on a great pad with long life and low dust? im trying to stick with what they have on tirerack, cause they pretty much ship to me next day .

yeah i did, but most of those are written right after the pads are installed. i wanted to get the opinion of celica guys who have had ceramic pads for a year or more.

I have had my Raybestas Ceramic pads for 3-4 months or so I'm very happy with em, had to work em in for a few days of good stopping to get them working good, but since then they have held up withough an issue or a squek of any kind. they indure repeated "slam on the break" stops withough going soft. (there on my brimbo cross drilled disks) (4 wheel disk breaks)
Ya just make sure you stick with the ceramic pads, because them creat little or no break dust, thats what im getting with my crossdrilled rotors.
axxis makes really good pads.
i've got mines from a local parts store(NAPA auto parts) they're called tru stop ceramic pads...i have them on my front for about a year now and no problems at all.... biggrin.gif
how well does ceramic pads work on stock rotors vs semi-metallic??
yes they are way better the stock pads. I would recomend them to everyone.
i have EBC green stuffs for many many miles and over a year, and i assume near 6000 miles.... they work great!

no but i only drove 3 months outta the last year wink.gif and it was over 6k miles now that i think about it...

i drove 3700 miles for spring break (7 days)

and then wat ever else
Anyone heard of Endless "Vita Nuova" brake pads for our celicas?
whats the differcence between carbon metallic and ceramic brake pads?? anyone better than another???
Ceramic don't leave as much dust everywhere, and I'm sure there are other reasons.

just wanted to post an update... got the brakes checked out when i went in for an inspection. the pads are still fine. something else must have been making the horrible noise i was hearing about a month back. now the noise is gone and the car stops great... go figure...maybe the temp change outside had something to do with the noise? .... so it looks like im still keeping the pads i have

id like to know what they did to the brakes to make them not squeek.
could have been a loose caliper causing uneven braking and making them squeek, sanding down pads evenly helps too
the noise just went away on its own ... dont know what cause it or cure it.

probably the weather and humidity during the summer. my brakes squeak less in the winter.
if the pads where really warn down, most have a metel tab on em so they sqeek when there in need or replacement, however that peace can break off pretty easy and you'll no longer hear the noise.
