4AGE Silvertop - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #31824 17 posts Started by 95CelicaST
There is a guy on craigslist selling an 85 GTS coupe with a bad 4A in it, but he has a silvertop engine+ecu to be put in. The Silvertop has ITB's and a lightened flywheel. He wants 2500 for it all, but I just want the silvertop. How much do you think I should offer?

Does it have an uncut engine harness, ecu, AFM, and ignitor?

If so, it's worth about $1200 depending on the mileage.

Without one or more of those items it quickly drops to around $800, depending.

Well, I think that if he has all of that, I will offer him 800 and see if he'll take it.. That will just use my tax return for the past 3 months, and then I will probably send my Harness far far away so I don't screw that up.

Okay. Before you make him the offer, ask what he needs to get for just the engine set. Once he tells you, tell him that you think that it's too much. Don't make an offer until then.

Then when you're ready to make the offer, show up with the cash, and make sure he sees it. (Have a friend with you obviously). Count it out for him... and if he won't take it, make a slightly better offer. Like $850. Pretend $800 is all you have aside for it but you can take another $50 out of your week's spending cash. If he doesn't take it, leave your number for him and walk away.

Remember, the instancy of cash is a powerful tool, as well as "walk-away power". You have to mean it though.

There's not a big market out there for silvertops, especially when you're not selling it on ebay or something.

yeah it looks at this point i could sell the engine by itself. I do have a pending sale of the car and the guy is not interested in the engine. to answer you question. yes it does have a ignitor, afm, ecu, uncut harness, and it does have ~100,000 km on the engine itself. if still interested gimme a shout back.

Thanks
Paul

What is 100,000 Km equate to in Miles

>Yeah well i paid 850 for the engine and hope to get 700 for it. Is this for an 86 or an mr2 or some other toyota. I got rid of the stuff i didnt need for the 86 like the powersteering pump, ac compressor, and the exhaust header. However i do have the rest of the stuff left.

How much should I offer now?? smile.gif

I might be going over to look at it this weekend, but with it being christmas and all, I might not have a chance, so maybe next Friday I can go pick it up and bring it home.
