A few months ago i replaced my front rotors and pads. A few weeks later my brakes were staying on whether i had the pedal pushed or not, this would last about 5 minutes then be fine. So I replaced the front calipers and they startes doing it again, I know when they are going to stick cause the pedal gets harder and harder to push until its solid as a rock, itll last a few minutes then go back to normal, any ideas? Is it a line problem.

hmmm... it doesnt sound like a line problem. i doubt theres any leak because you would be experiencing the oppisite. but i would check the brake pads and make sure theyre placed correctly. did you do it yourself? they have to be pushed in right with the little clips and the "<" wire thing.

I didnt do them myself, but i know they are installed correctly, i stood by while the mechanic did it. Theyll be fine then the pedal gets harder and harder then they go back to normal makes no sense to me

Maybe take it to another mechanic...maybe Toyota this time?

It sounds like your master brake cylinder might be going out of commission. I suggest you look into that and replace it, cause it seems like the vaccum lines can't suck up the air when you press on your pedals.

Thanks soulshadow i'll give that a try, and celicav it was a toyota mechanic but thanks for the suggestion.

lol. i wouldnt take my car to a toyota dealer if i was on crack. anyway, yea, that was my original guess. master cylinder. i had to replace mine too. u can get it fron an auto parts store and return your old one and you'll get some money back. came out to like 60 bucks for me. just make sure you specify ABS or NON-ABS. lol. otherwise, it'll take longer. lol.

try this:

with the car off pump up the brake pedal till it gets as hard as it can
with your foot pressing the pedal still
start the car
and then the pedal should be able to go down

Its all good, I can help people out with there problems, but could never really solve any of mine....

had a chevy truck do that once, turned out the front rubber brake hoses had collapsed inside, wouldnt let the fluid pressure off the calipers. burned up a rotor getting home with it.
