Dilemma - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #3222 13 posts Started by nigz
S'up fellas....

can someone tell me if this combination of rim and tyre fit on a stock standard 6G

215/40/17

225/45/17

offset of the rim is 42. any help would be much appreciated. thanks
I'd go with 215/40/17 tires if you don't want your speedometer to be off. But be warned, the ride is pretty rough on 40-series tires. You may want to go with 45-series tires if you don't want to feel every crack and bump in the road. >wink.gif>

coomer thanks for advice, so u reckon the offset (42) is okay? i got the rims without the rubber and they look pretty wide man, got this feeling its gonna hit sumthing when i chuck it on the car. >confused.gif>
You'll be fine with wheels with a +42mm offset. I believe that forkee's 17" Rage Breakers have a +42mm offset, so you may want to check with him or someone who has wheels with that offset just to be completely sure that you won't have any problems. >wink.gif>

got em fiited today, 225/45/17 little bit upset cos' the wheel looks pretty small with the profile of the tyres, car looks like a bloody 4X4! photo on the way after i lower the mo'fo. thanks for ur help bro'
I got 215 45 17s on my car, ride is nice, tires dont look that overall huge, but yes it looks like a 4x4...i should get my 1.75" Springs in a few days >biggrin.gif>
changed tyres again, 215/40/17 so much better now, although ride quality isnt all to bad, the change isnt that drastic, car looks much better and i can now lower it, so it sits on its ar$e.

ps. i was told the springs i had on the celica is already low as it is, the guy recommend i compress them cos when i ordered "King Spring"-super lows, both the springs measured about the same height and he said wouldn't make a difference....

any opinions on compressed springs?

compressed springs?...hmmm let me think....NO!!!!

go for the: eibach or intrax or toms

and sizes for 17x7 with 40M are:

215-40-17

or

205-45-17

THESE TWO SIZES ARE THE SAME (REMEMBER 205/215 are not measurements, THEY ARE

percantages - %)
I've got 215-40-17 on 17x8 with 40 offset and it is PERFECT !

Eibach Sportline springs too

I thought 215 was the width of the tire, and 45 was the sidewall percentage (as compared to width). >confused.gif>
the eibach and all the pther springs mentioned in the above posts, how much do they cost? im in Australia btw.

I got mine in liquidation for 225$ canadian.
listed at 400$ I think.....
