Brakes make my Celica shake - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #32295 14 posts Started by eliaz
Hi all,
ok here is the deal. I imported me a 1995 Celica Gt just about 6 months ago. What a great car! biggrin.gif Anyways, the brake(s) were really bay, when I braked the whole car shaked an vibrated. I could also feel the vibration in the brakepedal. So I thought, bad disc! I should also mention that it seemed like the vibration came from right front brake. I changed both front discs, pads and shims. (Also changed rear pads and shims) Wolaa, problem solved! I was very happy. Then about 2 months later i decided to rebuild all of my calipers (front and rear), and so I did. Jup, woked fine for a long time. Bud now, guess what? The problem is back! I can't understand what's wrong. I may have driven about 6-7000kms since disc replacement. Bad disc again? frown.gif What can I do about this? Machine the disc? But I guess the problem will come back.. kindasad.gif
warped rotors possible ?

the 1/4 doesnt have patience for a ST.... so we make them ST-T's so atleast we'll sound good going slow.
get them cut or replace them

I will return one day.
do u use ur brakes really hard?? u know like go 80 mph then try to stop in a hurry?. first dont buy cheap rotors. 2nd slow down, and 3rd ur rotors are gettin warped some how but im sure u already know that. ill see what else i can find

just remove your brake pads and calipers and it'll stop shaking.
Hahaha, I should really just drive without them..! I can remember I had a speed run against a Pueguot once and the road was really harsh, braked a lot and hard. Well, I replaced the rotors with original Toyota ones. Any suggestions for good rotors that is a direct bolt on?
you might want to check into upgraded ceramic pads such as EBC or sumthing similar
and drilled rotors such as
i-rotors
nopi has brembo rotors for 21 each, 12-15 to ship each

also when you get your rotors trimed, cut or replaced, sand the pads down a little, get the glaze off them
Must be cheap rotors if they are warped already.... sounds like that is the problem though

Original Toyota ones kindasad.gif
Called Toyota today and wohoo! They are giving me new rotors for free since it is covered by some sort of warranty biggrin.gif What should I do with them when I get the new ones? Should I brake them in?

you always want to break them in take it easy for a few hundred miles then try to brake earlier and lighter from now on
stop putting glazed pads on fresh rotors, see if you can get new pads free too!
