Topic #32326 36 posts Started by bloodrain
well i work at radioshack and get pretty good discounts such as employee sprint, nextel, verizon and cingular employee plans which are $15 a month for unlimited everything. I also get 30% off most stuff and 10% off big stuff such as plasma TV's, ect. We also get discounts on GM vehicles, we pay what the dealer pays to get the car. Never used that discount yet tho. Anywho, what kind of cool discounts do you guys get? And no, 5 finger discounts do not apply to this topic laugh.gif

well it depends, I dont get a whole lot from the company I work for directly, discounts here and there (employee discount at computerstop since its in the same family of companies as mine,) but since I have been contracted to Microsoft, I get access to the company store (I'm not allowed to buy much there though, maily keychains and shirts frown.gif ) I'm allowed to apply and get accepted to test upcoming software which I'm curently doing, I get certification tests free (huge savings) and a bunch more stuff, I'm not going to list em all out.

I basilcy get whatever employee discounts/perks for whatever company I happen to be working with, sept its all temporary so I gata take advantage of it wile I'm on the contract.

Pretty much anything automotive related at cost + 10% plus the bonus of being able to use all the workshop equipment - vehicle lifts, tyre changing balancing machines etc plus cheap body/paint facilities. Then again being workshop foreman should have its perks!

I work for a very professional tanning salon chain here in the twin cities- Catch A Tan. I get free tanning (obviously), but I also can go to stores with Airbrush tanning and have that free whenever I want, and I can buy all products AT cost to us, which is awsome because our stores recieve it cheaper than almost everyone because of the volume we sell through all the stores. Perfect example for those who know California Tan products- CT Seven, retails for $95, I get for $27 smile.gif

Car #3: 98 Accord LX- purchased 5/06, totaled 8/06Car #2: 95 Celica GT- purchased 8/03, current daily driverCar #1: 01 Focus ZX3- purchased 5/01, sold 8/03
I work for a company with like 19,000 people, so we get discounts at MANY local businesses in area. The bigger the company, the more likely these people will be the customers at local businesses.
O'Rileys give me 40% discount on everything the store carries (YAY!!!!!) Finally I can get car parts for cheap....dirt cheap.... So lets say a drive axel costs 100 Bucks! I can get one for 60 Bucks, Core charge of say 30 bucks later and so im left with a Drive Axel of $30. YAHOO!
I also get commission on everything that I sell. YAY!

At CarMax we get cars at $200 over the wholesale price ($200 covers the truck transport to bring it into town and all that crap). We can buy 3 a year at wholesale, and I'm not sure how the discount works on parts but I know we get some sort of cut on it.

Plus our pay as detailers is based on our efficiency. I can't remember the base amount, but basically if there's no cars to clean and you sit around you get $7.75 an hour (not very likely, there's like 1000 cars out back that need done lol). If you're 100% efficient at detail work (detailing within the time frame the inspectors estimate) then you get about $10.50 an hour. If you're in less than that time frame you can make anywhere up to 20 something an hour just detailing cars.
