Car on 4 JackStands - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #32360 144 posts Started by Defgeph
I'm overhauling my car. I was wondering if any of you guys knew of a way to support the car for a long period of time. I was thinking 4 Jackstands, but I'm not sure if this is right for the frame or not.

I need to remove the wheels and suspenion for a long period of time. Whats the best way to support the car till everything is installed ?

Thanks,
DEF

I will return one day.
jackstands will be fine, jeff.
especially if the suspension is gonna be out

You'll be fine, just make sure that you get yourself a hydralic jack that you can support the frame up with just in case when you go down and get dirty underneath. I never trust the jackstands when im under it. I always make sure that I have something when I need to make a clean escape if the car ever falls....
yea like everyone else said you'll be just fine.... but don't put the stands where you put the sessior jack ...

place the stand on the resting point... that where the control arm meet that fram ... and if your going to remover the controal arms you can put them at the front edge of the frame .. if you luck under the car it should have X's where you can place the car on stands

Thanks for the help guys.

You'll see what I'm up to in a few months. Car should be rolling before May.

Quit teasing us. It better be ready by May. What the hell are you up to?
You have traction issues this I know, because you bought slicks.
And what takes 3 months?? AWD is my guess. Come on throw us a bone.

JDM guy made me do it.
If you want to know whats up, come out to the Tail of the Dragon Meet. That will be the first time to see my car. I'll make it worth the trip. wink.gif People dont call me RC King for nothing. tongue.gif And no hints.

Everyone just come out to the meet, I'll be driving close to 13 hours to get there. I'm expecting to see more people on the list.

I got something for JGreening, We'll see how his car holds up.

Bah...I might be inclined to accept a challenge...from a real car! LOL. If you were a real enthusiast, you would share your plans with your fellow brothers. At least tell us this - are you planning on replacing the stock fuel system?

The only thing I will have new is some 235 treads...and, some skirts.

QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.
I'll Share my plan with everyone once you catch up to me. You should spread some butter on that baked disco potato you have. laugh.gif

You can listen to my loud whooshing sound in a few months. wink.gif

a hydrolic jack will drop a car very easily.....as it can raise and lower
and sway back and forth

jackstands are a FIXED heavy duty support that is THE #1 safest way to hold your car in the air
