I put on a throttle body spacer today and it is making the throttle cable extend, where do I adjust the slack on the cable?
Adjusting idle... - 6G Celicas Forums

Well it sounded good as it reved to 6k lol...
But to the the right of the cable you say? Is there anyway you can point it out in a general pic of a 5sfe for me?

see that bracket that holds the cable... to the right of the 2200 sticker? there are 2 nuts there ... you can use those to adjust the slack of the cable.
pay no attention to the coil circled in pink...dont know how that go on there

is there a spacer available for the 7afe and... what exactly are the advantages to getting one?
the 1/4 doesnt have patience for a ST.... so we make them ST-T's so atleast we'll sound good going slow.
Okay got it on this morning and with alot of work got the idle back down to 1k ish(the black bolths on the actual cable are the proper ways to adjust ya?), thanks alot for your help Lego.

whats up with the breather filters? the pcv from the valve cover goes to the intake for a reason.

Oh my bad, I reconnected that hose right now, and the one of the top vacume hoses keeps popping off due to the added length it has to strecth, is there anything I can do? Like an adhiesive i can put on the pipe so the hose stays?
Just get some longer hose.

Um you are actually have one nut on each side of that bracket. Not both on one side.

yeah...it looks like your spacer made that bracket to be in the wrong place... you probably will have to figure out how to move it over or get rid of the spacer...
what is the point of it anyway?

Yeah that was how I was able to adjust the idle, and driving it around for a little bit today I havent had any problems with it, and the way the spacer is designed its supposed to allow better air flow, Ive noticed a bit of a gain and its louder. Plus I havent really seen anyone else do this before so I thought Id try it out...

Yeah plus with the breather filter on it it makes like a metallic cricket noise from all the exposed valve clatter.
My first intake did that with only 30K miles on the car. Get a peice of hose and set it up right. Since you are into the red stuff like me you can even get a red hose for a couple of bucks at a descent performance shop.

Are you sure you really got gains with this? Were did you get it and how much did you pay? If it's not to expensive, it might be something I would do.

Thats what I got, its not that inexpensive but I think its worth it. I wish I had Dyno hook ups so I could get a reading.

Do you know why you had to adjust the throttle cable? The reason is that this spacer is for the 97-99(5sfe) celicas with a different throttle body assembly and throttle cable placement. The way you have it hooked up with the cable that is not secured with bolts on both sides, is dangerous because if it falls off while your driving you can't accelerate anymore. I suggest to drill new hole on the bracket so you can give the cable more slack or sell it. I just don't want you to get hurt.
Hmm thats a good point, it seems pretty secure in the little holding area its in now, plus the first bolt is tighted up against the mounting thing...
its a spacer... it wont give you any more power. something like a larger throttle body could, but not something thats just a spacer.

I know that larger throttle bodies are said to help, but I don't understand how when it just funels down soon after. I thought maybe a spacer would help flow. If it was cheap, it would be worth it.
