Throttle Responce - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #32597 4 posts Started by Elevindie
I have had my car sit for about 3 months now, and just recently when i started it, it would run fine. I just cleaned the distributer cap and rotor, and replaced spark plugs (Bosch). What is happening is when i snap the throttle it bogs for a sec and then revs up, and there is an occcational back fire. My timing is set at 10 degrees BTDC. Also when the car is running i pull a spark plug wire to listen to the engine and for a spark. Every cylinder is fireing. What could the problem be, plz help!!

when you set your timing did you use a jumper on your diagnostic port?
what is your gap set at?

Also just a thought did you have oil inside the distributor cap when you cleaned it because on my car the O-ring to the distributor was leaking oil into it and causing similar probrems then as I revved higher it went away?
probably not that but just a thought biggrin.gif

If anyone is missing NASCAR and it's not on Speed Channel, take a fistful of Skittles, throw them in the toilet and hit the flush handle. Instant NASCAR!!!

I did not set my timing. It was where it was when i bought the car. i just used a timing gun to see where it was at. I set the gap to Stock Specs, .032, When i cleaned the distributer there was no oil at all.

Thanks for your input
did you put the jumper between TE and E1 in the diagnostic port because if not it could still be off by 10 or so degrees?
