Some people had asked for this before and since I was taking pictures of the axels, I took a couple more of the engine bay for you guys. Notice the silver soldered hard water lines. You can see I have a minor coolant leak somewhere that I need to track down. Enjoy.

Yea, I swapped in a H22A and then retrofitted the MR2 intake manifold, 3sgte heat shield and timing belt cover.

Really, you are just reading "Toyota" upside down.

i just noticed that your upper radiator hose is totally different then mine. mine goes straight while yours has to bend. i wonder if its another difference in the mr2 version of the water, or something they just changed in 93

I don't know - it has been particularly difficult to find. I think I am only getting it when I am really running hard because at idle, I can never find water coming out. Its not losing much water so its not that big of a deal - except the smell. I am going to see if my mechanic can help me find it when I get my second magnaflow installed later in the month.

how hard is it to disconnect that ic piping when you need to change plugs or do any minor work on your car?

you should paint or powdercoat you heatshield, it will give the whole motor a cleaner look .

LOL. I have checked about 20 times in the last 10 days and, when I check, its not leaking Art! I have had to add about a cup a water during that entire time. I got some pin size hole or tear somewhere on the driver side - either the upper radiator hose, radiator neck, or turbo lines.

As for disconnecting the piping, its easy - take the clamps off and pull them apart. They each have two sections but you can't see the seems. Also, I changed the plugs without taking off the piping. I will be doing that again soon when I go to colder plugs.

did you ever think about putting exhaust heat wrap over the top pipe? i got some for my car, and it really helps those pipes not get heatsoaked

my piping used to get so hot that i couldnt put my hand on it. with the heat wrap, i can keep my hands on it as long as i want and they barely even feel warm.... so id say, yeah it works !

Interesting. My pipe is barely warm after 30 minutes of HARD driving and it has no heat coating - thats just paint.

if its barely warm, then i guess its not a big issue for your car, but just knowing how much heat comes off the valve cover and exhaust manifold, im surprised it dosnt get hotter. check it again in the summer, cause i bet it will get really hot once the weather heats up

i plan to redo my piping at some point to follow a similar path as yours does and i know for sure ill be wraping mine.

Will do. The heat shield cannot be touched and does radiate alot of heat but the pipe has stayed cool. I think having the hood vented helps too but you have the ST205 hood too so that can't account for the difference.

Also, I am very suspect about the notion that the air would be warmed up all that much between the intercooler and the intake manifold simply by warm piping. That air has been cooled to near ambient through the intercooler and is traveling very fast. I question how much it could be warmed in a blink of an eye.

well, it cools down in a blink of an eye by the intercooler. anything else that is hot after the intercooler did its job is bound to make the temp go up, at least a little bit. its cheap enough to buy and try out and it definetly wont do any harm .
