GAS MILEAGE!! - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #32815 24 posts Started by tovejas
ive had my celica for about 4 months now and i was wondering what the average gas mileages on others calicas. i get about 10km/litre (24 miles per gallon). and also is high octane gas recomended for the 5sfe? ive heard that the owners mannual recomends it? true false? well ive only put HOG in my tank so far, just to be on the safe side.

had a 5th gen proir to this and i remember getting about 12km/litre on good days, same engine and all. i guess the 6th gens are really "PHAT" cars after all...................your thoughts?

and the 3s people can post there mileage too...im just curious

SEARCH. Do you think this is the first time this has been asked ?

Dr.
I've done this before, but just for your info:

I get 29-30 mpg with the 5sfe, country driving usually in the 40-50 mph range. Highway is typically not any better due to the short gearing. I wish I had a sixth gear; it would net me another mpg easily.

I get a nice 26.5 mpg in the GT4 while running .9 bar of boost.

who would of known a gt4 would be capable of having better gas mileage then a 5sfe.... that gives me more reasons why to love the gt4's even more...... biggrin.gif
right now in winter i get about 30-33 MPG. I got about 2-4 more mpg with the use of 89 octane over 87

7a-fte in progressstill need a manifold, fuel pump, greddy e-manage, and oil lines / water lines
Between 26 and 30 for me. All reports ive read say 22 city / 28mpg highway. Im satisfied.

5S-FE Requires regular gas here in the states. Our engines arent exactly performance machines lol smile.gif
On my st, i get 29/34ish

nice to see a good amount of members just giving the answer since it takes them the same amount of time as it does to type what Dr. wrote! lets not discourage members but rather inform them and tell them the answer and that next time they can try the search button.

No. . searching could find litterally dozens of answers in less than 1 min. This thread will take a few days to get there, thats called effeciency. It's not called discourage. . it's called this has been covered so instead of wasting coomers bandwidth and people's time, just read what has already been written. You think the search button was put there by accident ?

Dr.

but, i dont see neone else complaining about posting their mpg? my 2 cents. someone posted a topic - and ppl replied. yay for forums smile.gif

the 1/4 doesnt have patience for a ST.... so we make them ST-T's so atleast we'll sound good going slow.
just to clear things. i do search before i post a question. its just this time the search option gave me this when i searched for this key word " gas or gas mileage"

therefore i posted.

dont mean to get on ppls bad sides.

but since ppl are contributing to this post, i guess it wasnt senseless after all.

wow most of you guys are pushing 30mpg wen i only push 25-26 at the most i guess somethings wrong with my engine or im just doin something wrong. how can i "boost" up my mileage??

I doubt going from 87-89 helps 2-4mpg and 33 mpg is excellent
this has been discussed sooooooo many times bofore. search.
Ok, with my 3SGE (175k) i get

- lowest 38 MPG (120km/h on a highway)
- average 26.7 MPG (average mix of city and highway)
- maximum 19.6 MPG (pedal to the metal :-) and speeds over 125mph)

Trust me when I tell you that you don't want to know how much fuel my car consumes.

JDM ST205Blitz Spec NUR Exhaust, somewhere over $1000Needing another one 18000 miles later, bloody annoying.

Heheh I feel your pain mate and thats just on the street! laugh.gif
I reckon I was getting 7mpg (Imperial gallon of course, not the smaller US gallon) last time I was on the track biggrin.gif
4's suck really badly on fuel consumption.

what do think needs to be done to increase feul efficiencies?
keep the engine tuned, replace worn parts, proper tire pressure, don't carry extra weight.

what doesn't help: dogging ur car, racing ppl from stoplights, forced induction> power comes at a price :-p

this is another one of those times i wish the 5spd gearing wasn't so short. Cruising at 60-65 won't net you the best mileage. But that's the way it is.

~bob
^^don't drive it so hard...^^

lol, i dunno, alot of our engines have a lot of miles/use....so i would think that does not help any...

i'm guessing there's nothing you can do to get better mpg...

Shift at 2k, but don't push the throttle very far down so you don't lug the car. You can be in 5th by about 35-40mph.
