Dyno run following rebuild... - 6G Celicas Forums

Plan has always been to allow the engine at least 5000kms before unleashing the boost controller fully, but I also wanted to ensure that the engine would last that long. So off to the dyno this morning to check to ensure that the fuelling etc was okay - especially as the ignition timing had been advanced quite a bit and the TPS altered to help control the idle (due to the HKS cams).
A gentle first run saw a lot of knocking above 5000rpm so the ignition was back off by some 4 degrees and another run undertaken. While there was still some knocking above 5k, it was nowhere near as bad. Not something that was very worrying at this stage as I am keeping the revs below 5k anyway during the running in period. I will, however, be placing an order for an Apexi FC and geting that fitted before the revs and boost are increased.
All was not bad however. Despite low boost and keeping ther revs down, we still saw nearly 200bhp @ wheels biggrin.gif Certainly bodes well for the future :twisted:

And as a referrence, here is a dyno from last year when mods were a Profec B EBC, 2.5" exhaust (inc decat & DP) and TOMs panel filter...

you are one of the few people to really do everything the right way. props to you !

just dont forget to put at least 1000 miles on the new rebuild before you turn up the boost or dyno again. im kind of surprised that you went to a dyno so soon .

It wasn't a power run on the dyno, it was purely to check out the fuelling across the rev range. That is why we only went up to 5000rpm so the engine wasn't overworked.
Once all is done, rev limit will be at 8000 - hoping for some decent power at that point wink.gif

Not much point until it's been fully modded TBH. I did post some rally vids a while back though wink.gif
