Ok if someone wanted a six speed to go with the 7AFE what would be the trans to use and what would be the parts needed to convert? I have heard that there is a 4AGE transmission that will fit but it is so hard to find or just expensive. Mainly what clutch and flywhel combo would you go with and what axles would fit.

Project ST204.5 99.88946% complete...
Probably a 7a disc & flywheel with a 4a presure plate and I'm stretching here, hybrid 4a/7a axles.

Stock ST axles and clutch kit should work just fine. The input shafts *might* be different, but more than likely it's the exact same thing as the stock ST.

So according to this I would need to find an E51 transmission. Is there a C60 transmission and is it a six?
>
Do you know for sure? I know not many ppl here don't put much into thier 7A's but this might be cheaper than just doing a full blown 3SGTE swap for $2000 just for the front clip and counting that I don't have a shop to hold the process.

No, the E51 isn't a six speed. You have two options.
1. Get a C160 from a JDM Corolla Levin, they come attached to SOME blacktop 4AGE 20Vs. That will bolt right in and should use the same axles. I don't know for sure.
2. Get a C60 from a 2000 and up Celica GTS, have the bellhousing swapped with an A series (yes, it can be done), and use 6th gen Celica GT axles. They *should* work.

I was reffering to the C160 from the AE111 Levin w/ Blacktop 20V... and yes... I'm pretty certain you can use the exsisting axles and clutch...

Thanks Doc. I wil be looking into this if I get a new clutch which might be soon. Also do you know what years had that transmission? (C160)

I think it's '98 to '02 but I'm not 100% sure.

The C160 tranny can be found in the AE-111 LEVIN BZ-R and AE-111 COROLLA GT models made from 1998 to 2000.
The years are: 4/1997 - 7/2000, to be exact.
EDIT: There was a C160 tranny on eBay last week. They're rare but you can find em.

If I recall that was for a 4E engine though, out of a european model Corolla with the 4EFE engine. I forget what the model is. You could still use it, but the bellhousing would have to be changed with an A series one.

doc, the one i saw on ebay was attached to a 4a blacktop.
i have seen them on ebay with the blacktop and i was also wondering what all parts i would need, if some1 could just put a list of new parts needed that would be great
they are attatched to the 4a blacktop because it is a lower torque high hp high RPM engine.... which needs 6 gears to properly take advantage of its powerband... much like the manual tranny that comes with a 7a which is geared to take care of the torque abundant 7a. this tranny would be interesting on a heavily moded 7aG, but on an economy 7afe with no mods.. I'd personally look elsewhere. The full blacktop swap for instance.
I guess another question for the people that have done the swap is how does the 4A blacktop feel compared to the 7A and is it a GZE? Along with how hard was the swap.
well from reading this could it be done trying to fit a 6sp tranny from the blacktop fitting it into the modded 7afe?? can it happen! well it be a straight bolt on?? or is there some stuff needs to be change in order to fit it on to the 7afe...
it would be darn great! if it does bolt on to the 7afe
it would be darn great! if it does bolt on to the 7afe
>
It does bolt on... it does mount up... axles "SHOULD" fit... linkages "SHOULD" work... but no-one has done it yet... or more likely... no-on has done it because there isn't a point with the 7AFE.
Hey... you're from fresno... mind if I PM you some questions?
