Well I am in the process of changing my clutch on my new 130,000 mile 5 speed GT celica. I am not sure what oil to get. *P.S. I already did a search on this*
-Looks like Pennzoil syncromesh is liked by all but I can't get it around here!!! I couldn't believe it!!!
*I am also worried that this oil might damage my trans. over time as it is thinner than what the other gear oils are*


-THe only one I can find up here in the boondocks is Mobil 1 full synthetic. Is that any good...

-My owners manual recommends API GL-3 but I could only find GL-5 rated oils!!!!!

If you have a Toyota dealer around, you can go there, or call there, and order what you need. They will most likely have it. It will not be as cheap as snyromesh, but I think it's better. You can also order synromesh off line, I think. If you live were there's nothing, you're going to have to get the hang of internet shopping.

Any synthetic kind will probablly work great. But just order it if you can. I'm just gonna use the mobil 1.

Do not use regualer oil in the transmition case. Use transmition oil.

GEt some Coastal 75w-90 oil at autozone or advanced. Most of the stuff they sale is ALL GL rated...it will be fine.

ive had the mobil1 75-90W full synth. gear oil in my tranny for over a year now..its perfectly fine.
sycromesh is great stuff, it works really well, especially for guys with notchy shifting issues it seems.

You can tell how good your tranny oil is during the cold. If its hard to shift or seems kinda stuck when warming up, then your oil sucks. I use castrol 85-90 in my tranny and yes it does suck,.
