just another member with JDM tails - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #33252 16 posts Started by azian_advanced
so yeah, i got my tails last summer from a used 98 beams celica.
at first, i was wondering why my rear hatch interior light wasn't working so i took off the panels and noticed the previous owner had pulled off the plastic panel while the wire connector for the light was still plugged in. the last owner had yanked out the entire panel and the connectors were pulled right off. while i'm on this topic, and i don't mean to trail off like this, but anybody have a spare interior hatch panel with interior light?

anyways, since i had all the rear panels off, i decided to put on the tail lights.. i was initially planning for these to go on this spring when the skirts and splitters get installed.

i didn't think the install would be so easy.. this has to be the easiest mod i've done on any of my previous cars. also i was worried since i've heard about some rubber seal being hard to pull out.. now i know what he meant and really wasn't so difficult (no offense to whoever that was).

probably not worth making a new thread about this but i came home from school today and saw this:

Lookin' good. Sure would like to have a pair myself.

Looks like someone has it out for you, that's ****ed up.
good job. really sexy. and ditto about not getting rear ended. i just put mine on last week and i've been looking in my rear view mirror every couple seconds when i drive now.

ss-iii splitters and 404 skirts areon. which means i need to update my sig.
Just ta let ya know you really didn't have to take the plastics out to change the tail lights. (unless you did just to figure out your trunk light) But just a little info if you thought you had to take it out to change tail lights. wink.gif

LOOKS good by the way smile.gif

Cut and take out the orange lens inside the indicators.

Cut the wire for the inner brakelight so that they only turn on fullbright when your brake is applied.

funny you guys talk about getting rear ended. The reason I got my tails was because some guy in a truck backed his trailer hitch right into my driver side tail light. He gave me his info and the insurance money bought me my JDM tail lights smile.gif I was 5 feet from my car when he hit it. I literally locked the doors walked away and heard a cracking noise. I was upset.

*whispers in amy's ear* GET UM..GET UM!! biggrin.gif
I'm glad I made this conversion, I think it really compliments our cars much better. I'm afraid of getting them damaged also. I check them everytime I come back from parking it where ever. I want to sell my OEM's but I've been keeping them just in case something happens to the JDM's. *knocks on wood*
Got to love the JDm look! Very sexy.

I am on my second set of em actually. I WAS rear ended about a month after putting em on. Lucky insurance payed for the second set! biggrin.gif
maybe its some chick. she wrote "i want to" on the other side. and wrote her number somewhere else..
