help with toyota alarm - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #3335 4 posts Started by ScoobyDooCruiser
I bought my 94 Celica from a dealer so I've got no history on the thing. It came with an alarm and remote. Its a TVSS (toyota vechicle secruity system) alarm. It came with a short little manual. It works great, except every time you lock or unlock the car with the remote, the horn beeps. The manual says I can turn that off, "See your local Toyota dealer."
So I see the dealer, and he says it was not facotry installed, it must have been a dealer option, so he can't help me. He says that the alarm doesn't exist in my car. >confused.gif> Its there. It makes loud noises if i set it off. He says it doens't exist for my car. The dealer is stupid.
Anyways. He can't help me turn the horn off. Does anyone know how I can do this? The alarm console has a program button, but I have no idea how to use it. Is there a way to reprogram it, or can I do some eletrical work to supress the horn on the locking an unlocking. Any ideas?

You could find out which wire is the horn output from the alarm brain, and then simply cut the wire, or put a switch in the wire, or something like that. If you have an auxilary output on your alarm, you could use it to turn the horn chirps off and on through the use of relays too.

New Toyota project coming soon...
disconnecting the actual alarm horn is the only thing that i can think of. but then if someone sets off the alarm they wont know its going off and neither will anyone else including you.
my viper does the same thing, except if I hit the aux button then my lock.unlock button I don't get the chirp. But I think its helpful to have the horn signal if the alarm is set, I know I walk a good 5-10 steps before I lock the car out of habit, and its the chirp which lets me know the car is locked and the alarm is on.
