3SGTE Third ECU Plug - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #33412 27 posts Started by WannabeGT4
Just thought I'd let everyone know that the 22pin ECU connector from the either the ST or GT with automatic transmissions will work for your 3SGTE's third ECU plug. The connector will have to be repinned and some of the wire colors will not match, but it does plug directly into the 3SGTE ECU. I hope this information will help anyone in the future that is looking for this particular part to their swap.

Also, I'd assume any automatic 5SFE or 7AFE powered car from about 94-99 will probably have the same plug. Camry's, Corrolas and MR2s come to mind but I'm sure there are more.

Any 22-pin Toyota plug will work, FYI.

Thanks, I figured they would but didn't want to go making too many assumptions.

My 3rd ecu plugged directly into the 185 ECU. Only one wire had to be repinned.

any one know the part number for that? or the best place to get one...

you know.. for those guys who got the 3sgte and not the clip

cough cough....

You've already got one since you're auto. Otherwise a salvage would be a good place to start.

no. your best bet is to mail your harness to drtweak and have him do it for you.

actually thats just the cheap way out...

the best way (ie learn more about it yourself and how to do it)
go to toyota and buy the electrical books for both YOUR car and the motor and do it on your own smile.gif
yes it will be hard and tedious but what you learn is priceless

yeah, thats true, but if you never did harness work before, then it will be a HUGE headache to try to do. its not a small wiring job, and you need to know what you are doing.

if you can swap your car, you can remove and reinstall your harness.

now see the shop i had my car chopped my 5sfe harness to **** and really didnt kno wut they were doing. So now i have my car in my backyard not done..And i was going to get another 5sfe harness and use my 3sgte harness and send it out... but wen i get it back i would need to install myself

or if i could have some1 tell me or detailed pictures on how to wire the plugs i can have them do it..
installing a harness is pretty easy, but defenitly get a complete uncut 5sfe harness instead of trying to salvage yours

but most of the wiring harness pretty much lays itself out to where it goes and normally the plugs are pretty unique to where they go
good solution. Installing the harness on the engine is no big deal at all. Now buy my spare UNCUT PERPECT CONDITION 5s harness smile.gif and send it out with the 3s harness to get this car going again.

i am working on that i need this car on the road!!!! as much help as i can wuld greatly be appreciated. And every1 hear is helping me out greatly! pmed u about the harness.... Now the ecu location will be were?
the ECU is under the climate control unit in the center of the dash. If you pull back the pass side carpet at the top and look over there you can see the harness and the ECU.

ok cool. and the harness once i get back will lay rite back in place behind the carpet???? i wont have to move to a diff location?
ECU is located inside your dash directly below your radio on the floor

Anyone thinking about sending their harness out, I had great service from Doc Tweak. Not only did he have the harness back to me ASAP, he helped walk me through its install as well as other swap issues, via email and phone calls. His help was paramount in getting this car on the road, and I HIGHLY reccomend him to anyone who needs their wiring done.

PS: Doc the car is going on the road this week smile.gif thanks again for all the swap help woot.gif
