My silverstars didn't really brighten up anything. I still have horrible lighting. most cars' low beams light up the road like my high beams. Well while it is at the dealership they can aim them and replace my alternator..

mine did. i had silverstars in my projectors and i blew through about 5 bulbs.

Buy my Celica $2,500 -http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=76562&st=0
if u touch the glass on silver stars they blow quickly..if u dont touch the glass at all, they last along time. My gf's bro was blowin them every 3 weeks with his civic cuz he was touchin the glass, i put them in and they have been fine for 8 months now.
Yeah don't touch the glass because the oil in your skin will compromise the integrity of the bulbs. AKA poof!

Sylvania Silverstars are a variation on Osram (Sylvania's European parent company) Silverstars.

An Osram Silverstar is an ultra-high efficiency bulb, designed to output 40-50% more usable light than a standard halogen bulb of the same type. The technology to enhance these bulbs is largely based on H7 bulb designs, which is why there are no ultra-high efficiency H7. They also include a slightly different gas mixture inside the bulb that adds xenon -- thus the whole confusion/claim of xenon bulbs (xenon being the only gas used in HID systems, but for an entirely different purpose).

However, the cost of more output is shorter life, about one-fifth that of a standard halogen bulb of the same design.

Sylvania Silverstars add a light blue tint to bring the colour temperature up from 3200K to 4000K. However, light output drops from 40% more than a standard bulb to 10% due to the filtering effects of the tint. They appear brighter in part because they are producing more light, but also because the human eye does not see blue light well in low-light conditions. Thus, the glare of blue light makes it seem as if the headlights are brighter, but you're getting no improvment in actual illumination due to the colour shift. In fact, the higher the colour temperature, the less well a headlight performs in cutting through rain, fog and snow. Blue light is more easily scattered than yellow by water.
i love my silverstars... although they will be soon be replaced with HID projectors smile.gif
Silver stars still go out faster if you don't touch them. I use gloves to put mine in, and I've been through 2 sets. I leave my lights on all the time though. I put the stock ones in after the second pair burnt out. It wasn't right away that they went, but it wasn't a real long time.

eh. i got em. i dont think they're that great. i think that the 6th gen has crappy headlights to begin with. reflectors suck

i used to have them before i went HID. they lasted for a long time. actually i still got them if anyone wants em for $16
Mine looked yellow just like the stock ones. Well, a little more on the whiter side but still...I never saw a big difference. Waste of money IMHO. I don't understand how some people have had great experience with them. =/

They vary from package to package. Last time I picked some up, one was yellowish, and the other was white. I went back to the auto store and told them. The manager tried to tell me it was my headlight and not the bulb. So I swithed them, and showed him it was the bulb. He let me have a new one then.

I must have gotten a good set of them because both of mine are super bright white, with a shade of blue if you look directly at them.

Mine too and I've had them over a year and I drive with my lows and my fogs on all the time for visiblity reasons (People like to hit my previous Celicas) - plus it just looks cool.
Course now that I type this I will blow them soon - Murphy's law owns.
