1999 celica gt hatch - 6G Celicas Forums

I'm looking at a 99 black GT with beige leather 5sp 70k it's on a dealer lot what is a fair price? there asking 10.5k
i think that is a lot...try talking it down a bit...if it was somewhere around 45-50K miles...it is fair, but just that alone with features isn' worth 10K...dealer usually buy from other for about 6k at lowest...look up kelly blue book and look into how long they have it on their lot...the longer they keep it there...they have to pay tax for it being on their lot...so try to talk it down a bit...my opinion!
Price is okay, but definitely buy it. It'll be the last of the best celica ever. I'm kind of looking for a '99 since I'd like my 94 to be a project car.
hey. i bought my 97' silver st for 3600. it had 102 k miles on it at the time and was in okayish condition. so just by comparison, its deff. way too much. try to bargain it down to about the 7 range and check around auto trader to see the prices. biggrin.gif Good luck bro!
bought my 99 gt brand new for 18K. been a great car. coulda gotten another car but no regrets. gave it to dad now have a 95 gt. boy these cars are great...lack of power but just great reliable fun cars.
that is a fair price for the car. i paid about 13,500 for my 98 with 30k on the clock about 3-4yrs ago.

confused.gif a fair price really? but its at 70K already...i still think that is a little too much...besides, since it is dealer....that's 10.5K + taxes = roughly 12-13.5k... kindasad.gif

also depends on your credit. if it's bad then u pay more. if good u pay less. im talkin interest

i had bad credit because my uncle didn't pay up his car. i had a 9 percent interest rate so decided to have my dad sign the car for me...

otherwise my 99 celica gt would be in the 20K range. the car was on sale for 14K but taxes and etc it came to 18K

get the car

Check kelly blue book, kbb.com for price range in your zip and car condition. I checked for my area code, and the price for a 99 GT hatch in excellent condition was about $11,500.

I think its pretty fair...but remember, its a dealer, so you can negotiate. I bet you could get it for 9500 or less with some good haggling.

Wise words smile.gif
I dont know how much celicas are worth over there, but
here in Australia, you'll be struggling hard to find a 99 ZR (GT equivalent)
at that price ($14,500 app).

I'd say its a go smile.gif buy it! biggrin.gif

Hahah after reading through this thread it makes me wonder if I got ripped off when buying my Celica. I paid 7 grand for a car with a rebuilt title on it. My car was T-boned a while back, and then for some reason a boat company bought it and fixed it up, and then sold it. I bought the car with 71k miles on it...

But on the plus side... It has THE cleanest runing engine I have ever seen, it runs as if nothing happened, the only problem from the accident is that the driver's door is a little screwed up, it doesnt really aline well with the back window... If you look at some pics of my car with the top up, look at the back window on the drivers side, something doesnt look even... Thats the only problem I could see with it.

Take in 8500 and say thats what you have to work with.... no less no more.... they should take it
I bought my 99 GT in 2004 for $11,500. It had 66k miles @ the time. Wait wait...it actually cost $13k but I had $1500 to put down on it.

Come to think of it I got it for $11k cause they took off $500 since I didnt like how the paint on the hood had a couple chips in it...
That's a little high. I paid 10,985 last summer for mine, and it only had 36k on it.
Wow! thanks for all the replys. I'm going to offer 8.5k if the car has still not sold. It's been sitting for awhile and the only thing that concerns me is it's a three owner car. Maybe thats why it's still sitting?

Or maybe its just cause no one really wants to buy a celica? Sometimes a desire for a certain car isn't there and so it sits and waits untill somebody comes and wants to take it home tongue.gif

Good Luck!With The Car!

allow me to share a similar saga.

i bought my 99gt (auto) hatch a year ago, 95,300 miles, for $7,000. ironically it was a 3 owner car as well. dealer had free carfax, which said one accident, but no airbag deployment. told the dealer i was going to take it to a mechanic before buying, so on my test drive i did, and got a "used car check" done. told me i had to do the timing belt and the engine probably needed a tune up and a bunch of little things, but there was no frame damage or anything really bad. tried to get info on the accident from the sherif's office, but no luck. bought it, imediately put $1600 into the timing belt and averything else.

overall i don't think i got the best deal in the world, but a few weeks ago i was driving out of my neighborhood and a kid waved to me, so i slowed down to wave back, and say "what's up"...he said "not much. cool car."

^^^That's what it's all about biggrin.gif

I would automatically try talking the dealer down, find any flaw that I could use and go with it. Even if the price doesn't go down very far it's still a very reliable cae and a good investment.
