External Wastegates - 6G Celicas Forums

just wanting to know what everyone is running and there opion on them and other external gates

yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte

External gates are very important as power increases to eliminate boost creep. I would imagine that one would be imperative for your setup.

I would route the wastegate gases back into the exhaust path to cut down on noise.

a lot of my friends use tial gates

good quality

loud as all hell if they vent to atmosphere

got a buddy with a turbo 03 cobra that has an innovative wastegate, car runs 9's.

It doesn't cause interferance to run it back into the exhaust? I've always figured once I went turbo I'd have to deal with this. I don't care much for those loud bov's.

It doesn't cause interferance to run it back into the exhaust? I've always figured once I went turbo I'd have to deal with this. I don't care much for those loud bov's.


It depends on the design but generally not. Especially if it is "eased" into the exhaust path at an angle.

the more the dump tube from the wastegate is closer to 0* relative to the exhaust down pipe the better off you are as compaired to one that is complete 90*....

but they offer slightly better control over a internal don't they..
interchangable internal springs assist in the base boost control and the point at which they open is more percise?

we are talking about wastegates and not BOV, right??

if so,
I have the turbosmart 38mm wastegate I used to have the Tial 38mm. As far as performance they are about the same but the Tial does not approve of using race fuel and the turbosmart does.
I don't run the race fuel that often but I like to know that I can without getting any problems down the road.
And as far as the dump tube I have a 1.0or1.5 inch dump tube for mine mainly because it keeps hotr exhaust gas from being dumped into my engine bay

If anyone is missing NASCAR and it's not on Speed Channel, take a fistful of Skittles, throw them in the toilet and hit the flush handle. Instant NASCAR!!!
i have some cheap one on there that is working perfectly fine for now but i have an innovative 38mm that finally came in here is a few pics how my dump tube connects back to my exhaust
