how to install a clutch - 6G Celicas Forums

check out this vid i found. it gives a pretty good step by step on what to do when installing a clutch. the only difference in our cars is that there is no pilot bearing, and we remove the bellhousing and tranny as one assembly. also, clean the flywheel and presure plate with brake parts cleaner and make sure there is no dirt or oil on them.

ya kno what that would be a nice addition to our community a diy video section i think we all can agree that its easier to learn by video. it prob would take up a lot of web space though but man that would be a nice addition. Maybe talk to coomer about adding videos in the how to sections. i dont kno but i think that would be a great idea

I gotz 2 things my celi and a dream, the prob is commin up with the thrid one...

hahahahaha its funny watching the video fast forward itself to the good part
It's also a good idea to have the flywheel rectified before putting it back in...you know...just in case it's a little warped. It happens. smile.gif

i stil vote for having a video section in the how to area of thhe site. just to make our site more kick ass. what do you guys think about that? think i should run the idea by coomer?

good find. cleanest shop ive ever seen
I didnt watch the video...but when putting in a new flywheel scuff up the side that touches the disk. This way the disk will have something to grip and it will wear in a lot faster.
Good post^

I used emery cloth and scuffed it in circles after I used a machineing straight edge to check it for warpage.

Then I cleaned it and installed my clutch.

Then my borhter in law took it for a joy ride a week later and warped the pressure plate and took out the second gear syncro.
link doesnt work
