maximum rim size for a ST202, 98' SSIII? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #34591 12 posts Started by Cubix
Hey all,

I've tried a search for this and it doesn't appear to have been a topic about it. Has anyone tried to have a 19x8 rim on their celica? I have a 98' SSIII. What tyre profiles have you fitted with your rims? Any problems? I'm thinking about getting a set of 19x8.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
I know this is possible on a 6gc.
ice23q has this on his car.
You'll need a very low profile tires and offset for the wheels.

IMHO it's crazy. You'll need tire xxx/30 R19, that's too low tire for common streets (If you use xxx/35 R19 your car will have higher clearance height)

ive see te 19 inch done before but boy drivin it sure is hard the highest you would prob want to go with is 18 with a 30-35 pro or above. most people go with 17's

I gotz 2 things my celi and a dream, the prob is commin up with the thrid one...
In a magazine i've seen a guy with our celica with 20' rims all around. And was drivable. But he had the same set of rims at 22's that he used for shows only (couldn't turn)

19"*8 offset 35-30 would be perfect. I used to fit these before my ride got widebody. currently I got 19"x 8.5 offset -9 front and 9.5 offset -3 rear.

20" fitment, you do need to carefully choose the offset and tyre profile will be as 225/30 or 215/35 which too low and hardly drive. especially in the front where the tyre will be rub the inner side of underfender area..

For safe, maximum you can go would be 19"....I have been using it over a year and no problem with it..

I just put on my rims they are 19x8 with a 40mm offset. My tires are toyo 225/35/19. Ihave kyb struts and groung control coilovers its lowered 4 inches. They fit just fine in the wheelwell no rubbing and i didnt have to roll my fenders and i thought i would. I did get cusco camber adjustable uppermounts for the front. I would like to find something for the rear camber though if anyone has any suggestions.
I have some AXIS 19x8.5 rims (35mm offset) with Toyo T1-S 235/35/19 with Koni(non-adj.) and tein S-techs

ALOT of people were telling me to do a 38mm offset but AXIS recommended the 35mm and it is a tight fit.
the only problem that I have had is that if I hit a dip hard(very hard) the pass.rear tire would scrape on the inner side of the fender very breifly, only happened 2 or 3 times.

AS far as drivability on the way home after I took off my 17's I had to go down a rough road and my only thought was "what the &$^* did I do?" because the ride was so rough compared to my last tire/wheel setup.
BUT by the next week I was completely used to it and totally love my 19's

I also plan on going with a wider tire soon I am going to try a 245/35/19 toyo T1-R but with the drop on my car it will be very close to the fender if it is wider-
but if I get brave I will try a 255/30/19...we'll see

As for pics I think there might be some in my profile, if not I will see if I can put some there
