RPM dropping to like 500 - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #34615 12 posts Started by southwest2118
when i turn on my A/C the car is supposed to kick
up the rpm. but for the past 2 months at idle the rpm
drops to like 500 and the car starts shaking.??

its a 7a-fe 95 corolla.
Mine does this too, then levels out. When I turn it off, the rpm goes up, but then levels off.

why

dose it have something to do with the A/C idel up valve? top center of engine
No it has to deal with the fact that we have relativly small engines and AC condenser demands quite a bit of power to operate.

Teh Celica sleeps for Winter '06. Suspension overhaul begins........
its the IAC...clean it or get a new one.
open your windows, rpm idle should be around 1k, biggrin.gif

but i would seriously check your pully's, alternator and also the a/c unit. but there probably is nothing you can do about it. small motors, big underdrive
**** i think i figured it out.... i teed the A/C idel up valve vac line for my boost gauge? i think thats what it is. ya and the gauge its been acting up
its the A/C idle up valve.

If your engine is not ideling well, there is a screw that sits on your Throttle butterfly. Take it out or screw it in some more so that more air goes into the manifold chamber. That will raise the RPM by a notch.
its fine with out a/c. only when the ac comes on.. also noticed my radiator fan stoped working. when it gets hot theres power going to it but ...the fans dead?
