I know there are a lot of us greddy sp exhaust owners on this board and I was wondering what measures ya'll have taken to weatherproof it. I plan to strip the coarse covering material around the actual muffler in the coming days but I don't want the whole thing to rust out. What should I use to prevent this from happening?
Also since we all have problems with the tip getting all cruddy, has anyone found a solution to this problem as well?
TIA
Just put mine on two weeks ago, definitly don't want to rust also!
Just get the car rust proofed every year. The coating of oil should be more then enoughprevent rust. You could even try painting your exhaust with high temp paint. The sad part is no matter what you do, you can prevent the rust. It may even rust from the inside out.
umm ya ive had mine since i got my car, rust like no other on the tip, no problems with the oval cannister, even with the paint stripped on it, but buyer beware, that tip is a rust magnet.

Yea the tip on my exhaust i starting to get kinda pitted with tiny spots of rust and its only a few months old. What is recomended?
pfft mine is two months old and the inside it starting to get a bit of rust in it *sighs* Oh well.....
I've had mine for just over a year now. About a month after I got it, rust started showing up inside the tip. I just scrubbed it with a brillo pad, cleaned it off, and painted it with black high temp paint. The tip will get black inside anyways(if you run rich, which is safer if you intend to use the extra power and not just the extra noise).
Mines still shiny on the outside, even after all the weather we've been having down here. Just have to wash it and polish it with a chrome polish from time to time.
Aren't the greddy's supposed to be stainless steel?? whats this about rust???
I've had mine for about 3 months now.......the second month rust started to show up in the tip. I cleaned it out and now it's black inside so you can't tell anymore if there is any or not.
I'm going to use paint stripper to remove all of that brownish ugly coating from the exhaust and ceramic coat it black. Also going to clean the inside of the tip as well as I can and use high temp black paint in there to keep it from rusting.
Isn't the piping stainless steel? The only parts I'm having trouble with rust are the hangers and the inside of the tip, but I don't want to take any chances.
