Thought I would share, here is the big front mount we built for a customers 96 celica, we swapped in a JDM ST185 3SGTE, and a JDM MR2 Five speed (was an suto) and built him a huge FMIC at my shop (Kingsland Customs) in Portage Wisconsin.

That's a big FMIC there. How are the IAT's reacting to it?? And pressure drop across???

looks nice but you have a LOT of intercooler pipe in there...might want to reconsider your route...

depends on wat you define as better..
length no its not really shorter its a little bit cleaner though..imo but not the way i would run my piping either

this version does give a "cleaner look" and easier access to spark plugs, wires and a few other pieces from wat i've been looking at on the motor...

there are better ways to fix length such as clocking the turbo...
but its just an idea....

Madmike, thats a great looking swap. Keep up the good work.

In all reality, any FMIC piping that goes over the motor like that will inevitably soak a good deal of heat. I doubt there will be any significant difference between any of the common routes, except for maybe clocking the turbo downward which might drop the air charge temp a few degrees at best.

I would think that possibly the most functional FMIC setup on a swap would be to clock the turbo downward, and then route the cold (return) end like Bboy's piping and then wrap the hell out of the pipes with heat wrap. If looks are a bigger concern I don't see how it could look any better than the way Madmike has his though. Definately sexy.

Yours all looks good too, its good to know there are more people out there building 6g turbo cars, we are a few and these Celicas are unique but sure stand out in a car show when there are like 150 Civic's and 300 eclipse's and one 3SGTE Celica! This is a customers, but makes me want to build one for myself! I have two RX7's and a 240SX, HMMM?
We are doing more tuning on it, more to come. Might have to add an adjustable Fuel Cut defender on it!

Hey what are you guys running for MAF? I am looking for something better than the stock one that will work the right way, I dont think the guys running the LT1 GM MAF are getting good results yet are they?

mike, ATS has done testing that has showed the AFM really isnt a restriction below ~300whp...once you get to that level anyway, unless your doing a tuned rom for the ecu your prolly gonna wanna start looking at EMS anyway..which in most cases will remove the AFM.

the one problem witht the 3sgte and front mounts, the intake manifold, hmm some1 should try a 3sge manifold and then you could get rid of the heat soak
