Sway Bars and Stock Height - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #35298 22 posts Started by bojangles_8686
I have been thinking about getting the Suspension Techniques front and rear sway bars for a while now. The only thing is that my car is not lowered at all. Would buying the sway bars be pointless? The reason I want them is because I want to 1. Handle better and 2. Have something else to do to the celi rolleyes.gif Is having better sway bars but no other suspension upgrades a stupid idea? I would appreciate any input I can get. By the way, lowering the car again is out of the question lol.

Thanks everybody,
Chucky
a lot of people i've talked to said just getting sway bars is a better upgrade than springs/struts. you notice more of an improved handling with sway bars than with springs/struts

i too might be raising my car back up, potholes suck and not worth the pain or a blown strut.
So you guys think it would be worth it? Anybody else have an opinion?
whose got the improved sways? and how much are they
suspension techniques is the company
wether or not you lower your car is irrelevant,
the sway bars will help tighten the car up.

Jgreening says that Sway bars are the best mod you can do to the 6GC cheaply.

Yeah I have them and they by far very noticable. You wont be disappointed
I was just wondering if there is any problems fitting the 3SGTE engine in with the suspension technique sway bars you recommended. Are they compatible with both 5SFE and 3SGTE engine arrangements under the hood?
Defgeph uses front and rear Suspension Techniques sway bars on his 3SGTE with no problems. The sway bar is exactly the same as a stock one in shape, just thicker in diamer to increase the stiffness of turn in and eliminate body roll. If stock bars work then aftermarket bars will clear also.

I've been thinking about getting a set for my car also, but I don't know how big of a difference it will make since I already have Tein SS coilovers. Maybe getting better stickier tires is a better solution, but it still feels like the car leans a bit too much when cornering hard.

I was wondering if there is any possibility that these swaybars also fit my ST202. Because Whiteline only makes them for the GT4 and Tanabe also has them but for 175 pounds each I find them a bit to pricey.

So does anyone think that know will or will not fit.

BTW at nopionline they are sold for under 250 dollars.

nopi sux. they don't ship to canada ><... whiteline makes one for st204 too... but it's thinner and more expensive than the st ones. shouldn't it say on Suspenion Technique's site if they fit ST202?

They should fit the ST202. At least thats what the 6GC Part Database says.

About Nopi:
I emailed them about the swaybars. Very short answer and got a link to a Belgium dealer. That was a real PITA so still no luck. But i dont understand. Why is it so hard to ship something if shippingcosts will be payed and if you pay beforehand?!

ABout the ST fitting the ST202:
Ive searched for quite a while but did not come across one thing saying it will of will not fit. All i have read is American models. But als the Celica ST which is identical to the European ST with a few minor differences (no drumbrakes on the ST here)

So if the ST/GT versions of the American model swaybar are the same. I could conclude that it should fit the EU GT since suspension for american and eu GT are the same. Only thing i can think of is that the exhaust piping is routed different on the EU model and could be a problem.

Maybe someone can post some detaild pics of the sway bars (Both front and back)

woo, they allow local pick up thru that ebay link.
Too be honest, I believe that sway bars with stock height will be just fine and you will still notice a much more stiff and better handleing ride. I mean, those babys are freakin thick compared to stock! There's no way you wont like the way your celi handles after you put them on!
