I don't know if I could bring myself to cracking open the JDM tails, what happens if you messed up? I'm pretty sure that person has access to more of them than we do though.

i could never mess with mine either. i'm even too afraid to remove the amber turn signal cuz these cost a grip for tail lights.

ss-iii splitters and 404 skirts areon. which means i need to update my sig.
i would love for someone o make them for me!
Does anyone know if Romas could make them?

if he could..that would be so awesome! i deffinately want them. the more i look at them the more i wish i knew how to do custom work. ::sigh:: lol
hmmm...by the looks of it..it doesnt seem to complicated..all that seems to be the most complicated would be the lens, witch if you have the tools, isnt that hard..if i get my jdm tails if i keep the celi i might take a stab at a set of tails like that.

edit: with my USDM tails..no way i would harm JDM tails.

All said wink.gif It isnt as hard to do somthing like this as it seems. Just if you have some knowledge in soldering and can get a premade soldering plate - then to make "halo rings of leds" it would take few hours. And then - only thing what would be a bit complicated - would be new lenses.

And no guys - i wount do this, cuz its just too much time to experimentate, and i dont wanna sacrifie JDM tails for somthing like this..

lol...see..it would be easy for me because i have acess to alot of different machines here..one of witch is a plastic moulding unit at my old highschool. all i would need is some thin plexi glass, the tail light, some adhesive and a bandsaw. and yea...all it would be is just a bunch of led's on a soildering block. making the halo's would take like..5 min each.
also being said you don't need JDM tail lights for this either.....
You think they look good in that photo? I've seen these lights in the flesh and they are the best rear lights for the 6 I've seen. If only you lot could see them in the dark - they're even better!
I know the bloke who made them and I'll let him know about this thread!

Hey everyone. This is vsideboy, the creator and owner of the lights in this topic.

Many thanks for all the positive comments you've given and thanks to johny for pointing out to me that the lights are now famous over in USA too haha.

Yes I had to buy a couple of sets of second hand rear clusters (standard not JDM) and what with a slight melting mishap (OK, total melting!) and a dodgy git taking my money and not sending the lights, these are the 3rd set that I have had.

Unfortunately I cannot provide you with any nighttime pictures as I was unhappy with them and have now taken them to pieces and am currently in the middle of remaking the internals out of fibreglass.

All the internals are custom made, even the circuit board design (no it wasn't just a plug your stuff in 5 minute job!) The biggest pain in the neck was the perspex lens as it bends horizontally and vertically and it is also twisted so it's not an exact fit, but its the best I could do at the time and took alot of heating, bending, wrong, reheating, rebending, still wrong, etc.

Incase you were wondering, I have designed them so that the outer rings of led's light with the sidelights on, all the rings light with the brake lights and the centre ring of the 2 nearest the numberplate light with the foglights. The outer 3 lines of leds are for the indicators.

Oh and I have also changed the centre bootlid brake light to 2 rows of red leds and also 2 rows of white leds so that I do have a reversing light (they don't light much up in the dark, but they are there so hopefully they'll keep the plod happy)

Anyway, once I get them redone, I'll try to sort out a few more pics for you.

Take it easy and have fun

Dan

This may be a silly question but why do you guys refer to JDM tailights like they are the holy grail of tailights? are they that hard for you to get hold of in the US? are they much different to USDM ones and UKDM ones? They cause us problems in the UK due to not being fitted with a foglight.

Thanks

Nathan

1994 JDM ST205 WRC with 17" OZ Chrono's wearing 215/45/17 Eagle F1's. HKS Induction Kit, Blitz DV, Decat and full SS System, Blitz SBC-iD and Power Meter running at 1.12Bar = 17mpg and a lot of fun
easy to get..... cost is ruffly 250$ usd....common site at an east coast meet.....but yes they are the best lights you can get for a hatch

The foglights are the inner of the two red lenses on the late-JDM rear clusters, the reflector panel is the top half of the lense and the foglight the lower part, no-one on CCUK has had problems re: this as far as I'm aware.
