I was driving the other day and found myself stuck idling at 2,000 rpm everytime i came to a stop. Any explanations? it did it for about half an hour and then hasnt done it again since.

Sometimes the vibration from the motor moves the bolts that hold the throttle cable in place on my car. This will cause the idle to sick higher. I stick my foot under the pedal and pull it up and it goes back down to normal. If you can do that, I think that'll be your problem. Otherwise, I could be something with the air intake. Have you checked to see if it's clean? Sometimes that can make your idle go a little funny.

Could be a vacuum leak, get some carb cleaner and spray it around your intake, if your idle suddenly goes up then that's your leak.

well if its sticky thats why tweak recommended carb cleaner to clean it, that IAC is about 180-200+, not a cheap part for a little piece, so try carb cleaner for a buck.

No, Dr. Tweak recommended spraying carb cleaner around the intake because as soon as it hits the vacuum leak it will get into the combustion process and make the idle jump. If no vacuum leaks are found, my recommendation would be to take the IAC off and clean it with a carb cleaner. Just spraying around the intake isn't going to affect the IAC at all unless you spray it directly into the IAC intake passage.

Or use propane / map gas (soldering torch). Same situation as the carb cleaner.

No really! It works great. I use it all the time looking for exhaust leaking in IC piping. No mess and not harmful to rubber seals.

scothaniel, I wasn't making fun of you. The thought of a large bottle of propane, an uncontrolled propane release, and engine combustion immediately jumped into my head when I saw that you mentioned it.
