So I did the rear disc swap 2 years ago. I noticed that I would get some clicking and humming noise from my rear D/S and now my rear p/s tires. i figured that it was my wheel bearings, but I took my car to toyota today and said I think my bearing are bad. well they called back and said it wasn't my bearings; those are fine. They aren't sure whats causing the noise. They suggest that its the rotors cause of the air, but Im not sure. I asked them to make sure everything was in working order incase I did something wrong. According to them everytthing is working correctly and nothing is loose....

So now Im at a loss of what could be the problem... does anyone have any ideas what I Can look for/ check? or if you have extra noise from these rotors let me know. Its kinda annoying and loud and I'd like it to go away.

i have slotted front rotors and i will hear a "whirring" sound under hard braking caused by the slots gassing a little and the pads being mashed into the slots which shave a little off on each pass. a whirring sound is normal, i'd say that clicking isnt.

this clicks sound from the front is it? does it only happen under gentle braking but then go away if you brake hard?

The clicking is constant in the rears. Once I hit like 30ish its noticable and I do hear a loud hum/whir when I have to brake the hard the more noise, but there is the clicking too when I brake hard which is mostly from my rear P/s tire.

check and make sure its not hitting the backing plate i believe Lew was having that issue

Did you change tires recently? If you did then it might also be your tires. My old tires did that too but when i changed to new tires the noise went away. Or try this link.... http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=35468

yeah the noise was from the rotors, because when i changed my rears back to stock the noise went away all together until i talked to another member who said the noise is normal. i tried putting some bearing grease inside the rotor, the noise went away temporary and now its slightly there, blast some music and its all good.

if you can get stock rotors then compare the difference - if its still making the noise than its not the rotors -- you can get cheap ones from autozone or some place similar for about $20 each or less - or go to a junkyard - i'll try process of elimination -

it is the rotors, i just said i changed the rears back to stock and the hissing went away.

Sounds like mildly warped discs to me. Had the same thing...got them machined flat again and allwas good.

i thought you couldnt machine slotted or drilled rotors.

Yeah, I beleive that it is the rotors like what Lew Said. I doubt they are warped, but never know. Hindsight being 20/20 like it is, I would have not bought these rotors cause of the noise. I mean its not that loud, but you know it gets annoying and I have sensitive hearing so I can't play my music that loud, which sucks

Anyone want to buy them???

mine cant be warped since they are practically new, maybe a month old.
