I have a quick question....i have CF replica GT4 hood, and my question is do i need the internal hood heat shield to protect the engine at all?? Or is that mainly to protect the paint of the oem hoods..any ideas, thanks

Ryan
I think that "blanket" under the hood is just designed so that if your engine catches fire the fire will burn the clips causing it to drop on the engine and help smother it. Lots of people don't have it due to accident/mod/don't like it etc.
actually the blanket is there to protect the paint on the hood from the heat of the engine. the engine heat can cause the paint to crack and blister.

10 year old Toyota red paint. No blanket. No problems.

The AT200 didn't come with the insulation at all in the UK. I suspect it's just there for noise dampening.
