Here is my situation. My best friend gave me some gunmetal Arospeed RS-GT 17x7 5 with tires not positive on the tire size, as I am at work and can't walk out to the shed and look. He had them on a '02 Subaru Impreza WRX wagon. We put one on the front to see if it would fit and move ok and we managed to breakoff 2 studs ans strip the other 3. But I got my old wheel back on first. Then I went to Autozone and got some 12mm "tuner" lugs and I couldn't get them to thread right. I thought if they where the right size they would work. These are like the ones my friend had but they are 1.50 instead of 1.25. Is the different kind of threads, fine or coarse? Will these lugs work if I order them?



Sorry to waste anyone's time if this has been answered somewhere else, can never find what I am looking for when I search.

Your friend GAVE you some wheels... and you tried to put them on your car, and busted everything up? So is it safe to say that the wheels don't fit? Or did you just screw up royally putting them on/ taking them off?

The wheels need to be 5X100mm bolt pattern, and I think those lugs are the right size, I remember posting the size a while back. I will go find it...

EDIT: Go down to Les Schwab (if there is one near by) or any wheel/tire shop and get 12X150. With Les Schwab the part # is 03401812. They are Gorilla locking lugs.

The little holes and the little studs all go together right, I screwed up putting the lugs on. Didn't thread them right. Is there different threads? Cause they didn't seem to want to thread right. The info on the JC Whitney page doesn't say anything about a certain thread type.

Celica lug pattern is 5x100. The lug nut size should be 12x1.50. If lug nuts do not want to go on, do not force it on. Thats how people F up their stuff.

No, there is only one thread type. If they didn't want to thread it was most likely because you had them at a slight angle. Did you strip them out?

you might have to replace the studs if your stripping and not threading right.....along with new nuts

Ok so the reason we screwed up is cause the lugs he had where 12mm x 1.25 and we where in a hurry. There is only one threading any lug will work as long as it is 12mm x 1.50 and take my time threading them on or I will be right back to where I am now.

Going to go get 5 studs to replace all the striped and/or broke studs, make sure I get 12mm x 1.50 lugs and take it to my friends tire shop and get him to put them on!

sorry to thread jack.. but was wondering.. you can use the stock lug nuts with aftermarket wheels right?

the size of the new wheel doesn't matter?

was just wondering since i've never changed wheels before and since the width of the new wheel is different

I couldn't use the stock lugs cause they had to fit down in the wheels.



I guess it would depend on the design of the wheel.

Lug nut size is the same, I just needed small diameter to fit in the wheel.

12 is the diameter 1.5 is the pitch. Higher # 1.5=.0590sae 1.25=.0492sae
.0492=20tpi (threads per inch) .0590= 17tpi
12=.4724 in between 7/16 and 1/2".
The outside diameters of the studs are the same the depth of thread,
and threads per inch are the difference.

Putting on bolts or nuts if you turn it counter clockwise
you should feel a little click, thats the start of the thread, stop,
turn clockwise if it doesnt go smooth right away stop turning
clock wise.
