I just finished my transaction with Tom from RIPPMODS today and purchased the LAST AUTHENTIC SDS kit for the 5sfe along with a pully upgrade for 9-11 psi and a boost cooler. Also in a few days im sending my motor to Flatlander racing to get a full rebuild with Pauter rods,custom pistons, WebCam regrind, and a Stage one port and polish. DG is working on my exhaust and I just bought a header from a website that was recently discussed in the forums. I want to make the 5s the best it can be. I'll keep you guys updated.

yeah i know about the price itchy its pretty steep. i'm not going to estimate the numbers yet it should be pretty good though.

I'm from Portage Indiana just about 30 mins outside of chicago and about 10 minutes from gary which used to be the murder capital of the US. Ohhh and madmods i got the blackbox tom from rippmods said you might have some problems with the ebay kits. im sure if you run into problems they will help you. i have had a great experience dealing with them so far.

good to FINALLY see someone get one of these things...im sure the built motor will help keep the motor alive..
did you lower the compression ratio at all?
be sure to hit the local dynojet when its all installed!!

I think everybody on ebay is full of crap. One guy claimed he had 50 of them, and he had none. I could not
get Ross to answer me. I got an offer on a second hand camry one, with the 5psi pully. No blackbox or oil
return lines. I should be able to handle the electronics with an emanage. Please post pics asap. I can't afford
to rebuild my motor, so Im fine with the regular pulleys. Did you get a metal head gasket?

Congrads to both of you for gettign the SDS. Ive always liked the kit and am SO happy there will now by 2 6gcs carrying them.

Heres a pic of the second hand one I am getting. My main concern is the mounting bracket to the 5sfe head.
i want to make sure i am buying a 5sfe one and not a tiburon or another car. thats why I am very interested in your pics

one thing i love about the 6gc community is the support. no other forum can compare. madmods my kit will be here within the end of this week or the beginning of next week.

cos i'm about 2500 into saving for the 5SFE SDS kit

but importing it to aus would've costed a bundle...so i was thinking of customising it a bit....

AllTrac, you may also want to head over to mr2oc.com forums and check out some of those S/C set ups, they would have more experience with that kit than we would, I think you're one of maybe 2(?) people on this site with that kit.

Congratulations on buying the kit tho, I hope your build is successful.

My motor is finally out and I have a lot of my parts in my garage and room. The SDS kit will be here sometime this week. They waited to ship it out because they didn't have all of the parts (boost cooler). My internet was cancelled and I'm getting a new service May 9th and I will be able to update more often with pictures and stuff.

Got the SDS kit today! YAY! My motor and head are both out and will be shipped out soon. By the way the "black box" that I recieved is the the SAFC II nothing special! I was kinda disappointed

. I'll post pics asap I know madmods has been waiting.

i found out why it was the safc II. i talked to tom and he said that with the 5sfe its actually easier to tune with the safc than their black box. he said that people have problems with it. their water/methanol injection system is pretty nice though. i think for the price it was well worth it.
