alright guys, heres my situation, im not getting very good mileage in my opinion. city driving, im getting, (remember im canadian) about 385 km to about 55L, which i changed to (good chance i may be incorrect haha) 231 miles in 15.79 gallons which i work out to be about 14.63 MPG, now thats pretty damn low in my opinion assuming i am correct. what would i check or replace first to get better mileage? thanks guys.
first, basic tune up - plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil change, filters

if still bad, probably 02 sensor...

I was getting about 400-450km's on my gts till the fuel light goes on.. after a tuneup, timing belt/water pump, I'm hitting 500's b4 the light. smile.gif

Definitely check your timing belt and think about a tuneup (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, pcv valve).

Hello,
I was looking at your conversion and I think it's off a little. smile.gif

To convert liters to gallons:
(multply liters by 0.2642 to get gallons)
55 liters = 14.53 gallons

To convert kilometers to miles
(multply kilometers by 0.62 to get miles)
385 kilometers is equal to 239.23 miles

So you drove 239.23 miles and burned 14.53 gallons of fuel.

For that trip you got

16.46 miles per gallon.

I agree with Batman722 and Starcraftjunkie that a tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, pcv valve) would be time and money well spent.

If you're still getting low mpg after the tuneup check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

Is the CEL light on? In that case make sure to run codes as bad sensors can lead to not only the engine running odd but also bad gas mileage.

Teh Celica sleeps for Winter '06. Suspension overhaul begins........
Quick question, When an O2 sensor goes bad, what happens? It thinks the car is running lean so it tells the ECU to dump in more fuel? Is that where the bad milage comes from?
