hehehe..look what i picked up 2day - 6G Celicas Forums

got all 4 rims, painted black, with tires, $150 biggrin.gif ..tires are all shot but i picked up a cupon on wensday night for 45% off any tire from Yokohama + free instalation + free balacing + free disposal. The rims are 16x7 or 7.5 3 out of the 4 are pretty nice, theres one that the paint is startin 2 chip a bit, so im gonna go get them sandblasted and either repaint em my self or get em powder coated. So im either thinkin i might get a set of Yokohama AVES100's on it, or some Advan Neova's. Not a bad deal eh? The rims also have the center caps, but the guy i bought them off, didnt get the bolts to hold the centercaps on from the original owner, but luckely/oddly enough i know the original owner..lol

Looking good man. I like the idea of painting them black, and the design is kind of stock looking.

yea the tire was painted a bit..the guy did a nice hack job on them. Im gonna go take the rims 2 a local wheel and tire shop, or maybe just give em 2 my buddy to take the tires off, sand blast em and re-paint them..make em look really nice. Im still deciding if i wanna go with podercoating, or if i wanna use duplicolour wheel paint. Also, donno what colour i wanna go with..black, bronze or white?

looks good. red and black go great together.
ss-iii splitters and 404 skirts areon. which means i need to update my sig.

I say awsome deal, but am i the only one who hates the way those wheels look.

im gonna give the rims 2 my buddy on monday or tuesday and get him 2 rip the tires off, and blast the rims and repaint em either black or bronze..donno yet..im thinkin maybe black and then get my gf's bro to airbrush a toyota logo on the center cap in the same red as my car, or maybe the word celica. Not 100% sure though. What do you think?? Toyota Logo? or the word Celica?

im likin the toyota logo better, but my gf thinks the word would look better.

the word celica, or the celica symbol


and go with a chrome lip, it will really make those rims look nice

Go with black. Imo that design won't suite bronze.

not to bum you out, but that paint is gonna get chipped when they dismount the old tires. powdercoat will be a tougher finish but the heating and cooling can weaken the alloy wheel.

I know powder coating will be alot tougher because the powder coating is actually baked onto the metal, but powder coatin is like $80 a rim here. Ive checked like 10 or 15 diff powder coating places and $80 a rim is the cheapest i could find. Plus, im gonna get the old tires taken off b4 i paint em. Im also gonna b sprayin a good 5 or 6 coats of paint on em b4 i put the new rubber on. Also, when i get the new tires put on, im gonna get them to tape the lip around it so it wont rub the paint. And powder coating wont weaken the wheel too much/if all if you get it done by a place that does automotive powder coating. The heat will affect the metal a bit, but not noticeably.

I don't think either, unless you make the toyota symbol a perfect circle... The red will stick out against black, and if it is an oval shape it will look like it is rolling lop-sided. Then it will be annoying to those around you.

Then again.. you don't have to see it when you're moving...

^ Mike is like a crazy good airbrusher. Hes thinking of making a template from a pic on the net and usin it as kind of a stencel. But even if he doesnt use it, its still gonna look good.

go with the logo with horns! that would be sweet. Take the wheels to a good powder coater and ask about veining it looks amazing.

update:
Rims are going to be sandblasted and painted tomorrow in a highgloss black. Should have the rims back by tomorrow afternoon or monday at latest. And i finaly found some bolts/tapped the holes in the rims to mount the center caps. Heres a pic to give you an idea of what they r gonna look like

and yea that picture ^ the wheels look HUDGE!, mainyl because the rubber on them right now is 225/50R16...wayyyy 2 fat/2much sidewall for a 16. I donno how my friend had them on his 5th gen. I was gonna go 205/50R16..but i think im gonna go to a 215/45R16 just to bring it in a lil more. I should have the wheels painted and tires mounted just b4 i go to France in exactly a months time. So ill keep you guys posted and post pics.
