Big Issue - 6G Celicas Forums

hey guys a couple weeks ago i started having water lines bursting all over my enigine .....jus this week i replaced all lines ...but there seems to be a weird build up of pressure in the lines , espesically when i turn off the car .... the lines begin to get swallon and then eventually pop ..wat could be the problem .. i was thinkin maybe it is the thermostat that is messing around ?

Blocked radiator?

Are the actual hoses themselves splitting or are the leaking where they are clamped? If the latter, renew the spring clamps if you haven't already done so.

thanx gary for ur imput on this topic , but i seem to be having the same problem it happened today as well .....how would i kno if the radiator is bad or blocked as u say ?

You'd need to try flushing the rad through. You should get a steady flow of water coing out of the other end when using a hose pipe. If not, then it's either replacement or recore time.

I have to agree with the bloked radiator.
I had 2 different cars that did the same thing.
Usually if the thermostat is bad well stuck closed
you would be overheating like boiling over.
In both my cases they ran hotter than normal
but not enough to boil over.
On my geo it got so bad that after replaced all the hoses
that the seal on the water pump blew.
I tried flushing it but ended up getting a new one.
I found out it was clogged by taking it out and holding
a garden hose to one of the hose oppening with the cap on the
radiator built up pressure and water wasn't flowing through
after replacing it everything was normal.
but thats where i would start it not then you could also have
a blown head gasket where it is leaking pressure from a cylinder but you
would more than likley have noticed other things like water in the oil or
vise versa and probably be oner heating but not allways depends on how
the gasket is.
