I thought I would introduce myself to everyone. I am new to 6GCELICAS and this is my first post here. I'm not a newbie, just new here and new to 6G Celicas.

I recently bought a 1995 Celica GT convertible with automatic transmission and black leather interior. I would have prefered a manual tranny but this car was for my wife. It is pretty much stock with the exception of the 17" wheels and the rear spoiler/trunk lid. It also came with the stock 15" wheels and tires.

I got it from a guy in his seventies. He had it dealer maintained right on schedule, kept it garaged and never drove it in the winter. He was selling it because he can't drive it anymore. The wind blew on his neck when he had the top down. biggrin.gif

I attached a picture. I have some others too but I still have to upload them. I will add them if anyone is interested in seeing them.

This is the third Toyota I've added to our fleet. My daughter has a 1987 Celica GT hatchback and I drive a 1993 Toyota 4x4 pick-up.

I've come to actually enjoy working on these. They are pretty simple compared to other vehicles I've owned. The most recent POS was my wife's 1996 Chrysler Sebring convertible. It got hit and totalled by a Mack truck, thank you very much. So I used the money to get her the GT. She absolutely loves it. It is her first Yota.

I'm sure I will be around now that I've found this forum.

Take care for now.

Dave

Welcome to the site !

There is a Celica meet in your area this weekend. Colt State Park, R.I.

Here is the thread Link

It would be great if you could come, you'll see a bunch of really nice 6th gens.

I would like to go to the meet but it is very short notice for me since I just learned of it this morning. Unfortunately, I will not be able to make this one. My wife and I both have to work Saturday and Sunday looks like a wash out, which sucks too since I am scheduled for a deep sea fishing trip. I may bail on that too.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the invitation. Are there other NE meets scehduled this spring/summer?

welcome and bienvenue.

that 'vert is sweeeeeeet! it may just get me over my prejudice towards drop-top cars. are those JDM or Curren tails? i know absolutely nothing about the Celi convertible I'll probably die never seeing one frown.gif .

post more pics of this piece of automotive art.

I believe they are just OEM USDM tails. The only mods that I'm aware of are the wheels and the trunk lid. Apparently, the spoiler comes with the trunk lid and not seperately. At least that's what the previous owner was told.

As far as the drop tops, I have never been a particular fan either. My wife is the one that likes to drop her top..........hehehe. She had a Chrysler Sebring convertible before this one. That was a complete POS. I will never buy another one of those again no matter how good of a deal it is. The top leaked all over and the interior smelled like mildew. This one seems pretty tight so far.

I have read that these were very well built compared to assembly line convertibles because they were all done after market instead of during assembly. I would be curious to find out how many of these were produced in 1995 if anyone knows how to tell.

Thanks again.

Thanks,

As I said my wife is the big vert fan. We had the Chrysler Sebring convertible for about four years until it lost a battle with a ten wheel Mack truck a couple of months back.

This one is built much better.
