sup guys, i'm kinda getting into the paintballing world and i'm thinking about buying my own gun. do any of you guys no if a spyder electra ACS is a pretty good gun for a newb like me? or maybe something along the lines of a tippmann a-5 or 98 custom? thanks.

If you're starting out, you'll want a mid-level gun. IMO, the Electra and A5 are pretty much expert guns. I have a spyder Xtra, semi-auto, drop forward, expansion and low compression chambers. It's nice and I use ****ty balls in it and they never break. 98 customs are nice, reliable guns, but they are hard as **** to field strip, my buddy has one, and it comes apart in half, and the first time he opened it up he lost a spring. Look for a 1 piece gun. I highly recommend the Xtra. It's an upper range mid level gun, I love it.

some new guys want the expert guns though. I started with a tippman pro/carbine, got a 19" flat ball barrel (takes the spin out of the ball). Then i got a spyder (hated it), then i went for the a-5 when it came out, now i use it for just about everything, speedball, CTF, brush runs are a breeze. as for field stripping and swapping barrels quick in the a-5 i know a couple tricks takes swap tiem down to 5 seconds from one barrel to the other. anyways its all preference go to a shop look some over, if you have a friend that plays go with him. ask tons of people their experiences. but the best way to learn is to play!

To live, is to sufferTo survive, thats to find meaning, in the suffering....
man, i can't make my decision, a-5 or electra! with the a-5 can you do trigger upgrades so i can walk the trigger, and do like 3 or 6 rapid fires??
i just bought a gun, i went to paintball.com and every1 said to get a spyder imagine....so far so good
My brother has a Tippman 98 custom. Boomstick barrel (I think he said 21"?) converted from Co2 to air, with a 900PSI carbon tank behind the handle and a Pressure regulator(I think the original way was in front of the handle) quick trigger dealie, and one of those ball feeders that spins around and loads.
Sorry if my description isn't too enthusiast friendly. I know nothing of the components, I just rent one and shoot people.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

from my semi-professional help. playing on a tournament speedball team, i can tell you a few things.
main thing is, you get what you pay for.
my first paintball marker was a spyder. and i constantly had problems with it breaking and catching balls and jamming the marker. It really depends on how serious your goign to get into the sport. i ended up, after numerous paintball markers, with a smart parts impulse. and it was the best marker i ever owned. although it was heaveier than most speed ball markers, it was reliable.
If your willing to spend alittle more, go fora smart parts impulse, or even a shocker. an impulse will run you roughly 300 at base, but with all the upgrades i had put on mine it ended up at over 1100. its a great starters marker and also a great professionals too!
If you are looking at the spyder, or tippman. reliabiltiy, go tippman, you will have far less pain and suffering with that marker than with a spyder. spyders are very unrelible from my experience
upgrades, i dont think you can ever really "walk the trigger" on a tippman, but you can get mods for it for automatic and burst shots, and reactive triggers. but you wont be able to walk it because of its design.
well yeah. hope i helped
if you have anywaustions feel free to PM me

FlickR2011 Subaru WRX and 1997 3sgte Celica
i been playing like 5 years, speedball is the only way, i have an E-orracle autococker, imo autococker is the best but bob long has some nuts guns, to many to keep track off, if ur starting off and u play in the woods id say get the a-5 i had one fully built with an e grip (best investment) and double trigger, barrel and all that, to me the e grip was so much better than the r/t trigger plus it included the r/t, the a-5 was cool but the side hopper sucked, the feed system is amazing though and i never broke balls, but im in the advanced world along with blinky^^ also if u play speedball start with a vert autococker, awsome guns
