Yep the 3sgte will make a very big differences,

I was in the same bost as you a few years ago.

Did the suspension, next was the engine, then the exterior.

This dyno video should help your decision. wink.gif

Engine swap.

I'm considering doing that or buying an mr-2 turbo, whichever comes easier. I'd try to do the swap myself, then get a custom made wiring harness from one of the guys (Tweak, DG) on the boards.
you should edit the video so it says how much your putting out not just showing the graph.. nice run though. RC CT26 right?

94' ST Coupe - 5sfe Motor swap and brake swap.
everyone will tell you to swap. and i agree with them all.

ss-iii splitters and 404 skirts areon. which means i need to update my sig.

exactly what mr-2 engine can you use to swap in an at200...
i wouldnt not try to use a mr2 motor for your first engine swap.
the acsessories are on the wrong side of the motor waternecks are diffrent, the harness and ecu are diffrent also.
your MUCH better off with a celica front clip.
now, if your just replacing a 3sgte thats already in your car, the mr2 option is viable because you just transfer over all the brackets ect you need from the celica motor to the mr2 one.

You can use an mr-2 turbo motor, but, I was just saying, I'm considering buying the actual car and just driving that instead of doing the swap.

Only problem is that I can only find mr-2's with only 100k+ miles on them, i'm not sure if a boosted motor (even a toyota) would be that reliable with such high mileage.

You'd be much better off buying an ST205 clip and swapping that motor in.
okay...i was reading something earlier today about when swapping to a 3sgte you have to make alot of custom changes...and it only fits rite on a 5afe not a 7afe...is this accurate?
^^^ what he said

It will mount to the ST chassis, however, you'll need to use GT motor mounts, axles, and shifter cables to get it to work right, if you plan on using a GT transmission.

okay...say i dont use a gt tranny..its already manual...but will it work rite or the stock tranny cant handle it?

okay..roughly what were the cost for yall to swap to the 3sgte including the axles and mounts and what else was necessary to change in order to make it fit...and is the wiring harness hard to make? ive heard different things bout the harness
clip 1500 - 2200 depending on where you buy it I would go jarco... thats for a st185clip
s54 tranny - you can get it from a junkyard for around 300 I would suggest getting all three tranny mounts from the junkyard at the same time. Tranny mounts fromt the dealer arent cheap. The mount that sits right below the rad was like 79 dollars? The one that sits against the fender was around 90?
axles - 99 dollars from advance...just make sure you tell them its for your exact car they screwed mine up about 3x.
harness - tweek makes a harness for around 300$ I think? Its much much easier having someone do all the wiring for you.
motor Mounts are not cheap fromt he delaership if thats where your getting them from.
shifter cables are 135$ from the dealer. Somethign else you can get from a junkyard if they have a 6gc there.

I would also suggest an front mount as the top mount doesnt help out much.

BANNED!
QUESTION: for the wiring harness extension, it's only for the ST right? If it also includes GT then im confused because I thought it was bolt on? correct me

yah ur car is an at200 if its an ST. st185 (90-93 alltrac) is commonly used because this engine was released here in the US in the 90-93 alltrac and the 91-95 mr2 turbo so parts would be easier to get than the st205 (6th gen GT4) that was never released here in the states.

welcome. this sounds like its your first swap(no offense). ur best bet is to get a full front clip. either from an ST185(alltrac 90-93 celica 2nd gen) or ST205 (94-99 GT4 3rd gen). 3rd gen is newer and has a few more pros, but more expensive than 2nd gen. yes, celica st's are AT200. AT200, ST185, ST205, etc are all chassis codes. goodluck and keep us updated.
get your clip from jarco.. I wouldnt buy clips from anywhere else.

thank yall...yeah...first swap...lol...just tryin to get it all together...and get as much info as needed..i know bout my chasis i just had read somethin that through me off...but i just double checked...to make sure i wasnt overlooking somethin simple...yeah jarco seems really good...and all the other jdm claimed sites are not you think?
