vibrating steering wheel - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #36668 7 posts Started by Rayme
I realized that the steering wheel vibrates in my hand when I go over midly rough bumps, It feels like the steering column is "vibrating". My older celica (90) never had this problem, the steering wheel wouldnt vibrate over bumps.

I checkout out the steering rack and I've wintessed some bushing where it connected to the chassis, can those be the problem of those vibration?

I'd say yes... does it shake when you're braking too? cuz i just recently (2 days ago) got rid of my eclipse cuz it did that so now i drive just the Celica.

Mini Supra... in need of mini boost.
you sold a car because it shakes when you break... thats at worst the rotors but most likely its kust the brake pads need replaced
no, just over bumps!!! I really hate the feeling ,make the car seems cheap, the 90 felt more sturdy and solid.. frown.gif

power steering belt..my car used to do that over bumps and at highspeed, any thing over 90km/h. got my cylinderhead replaced, my buddy found my PS belt was about 2 break/was shot, replaced it..been fine since.
Check if your tie rod maybe a bit loose also tongue.gif
Bump

i've been having the same problem... I had all belts, all to my knowledge atleast, replaced so i wonder if maybe they just need to be tightened up again? The belts were replaced like 6 months ago though, so it could be something else. maybe something small i'm looking over??? maybe my tires aren't inflated enough?? ah, i have no idea. any help is appreciated.

maybe i should just tell my parents my engine and tranny are shot and they should buy me a 3sgte biggrin.gif
