subwoofer - 6G Celicas Forums

i was thinking about putting a 8" sub in the trunck to give the system a little more punch, and since money is a little tight, i was wondering how hard it would be to just make my own simple sub box. i mean, a box isn't hard to make, i was just wondering what i would all need to do to make it sound right and to make sure it is all sealed right. so if anyone has some tips, plans from ones that have been made, or whatever ya got, it would be an amazing help. don't really want to spend almost $200 for a simple sub box. thanks
also, i have a factory headunit and amp right now, do i need to buy an aftermarket amp and headunit in order to wire in the sub. or is there a way i can just wire it into the stock stuff? i was planning on getting a alpine HU later on, but i definitely don't have the money for that right now? again, any help is greatly appreciated
You will definately want an aftermarket amp to hook the sub up to. My advice is search online. I have found a few simple sub box designs, you will definately just want a Sealed Box. It also depends on the sub you get as to the depth and what not...

When you get ur amp's them things might come with an instructions on box dimensions. If there weren't any call up manufacturer and ask for spec's. Building the right box is what will make or kill your bass smile.gif

get some fiberboard(mdf) from lowes, have them cut it to your demensions, then just take it home, nail it together with a nails about every inch, brad nails will work great, and then cut the whole, and your done, you can put carpet on it if you want. the wood should cost about $10
do you guys have an good designs for our small trunk. I want to still have room to put things in the trunk ... I'm thinking that fiberglass will be too difficult for me to do.
