Speaker - sound goes out while driving. Raise Volume-works?? - 6G Celicas Forums

Driver side Front speaker - Sound will work fine. Maybe 10 minutes of driving, maybe 1 hour later - no sound. All other speakers work fine. I finally found out by raising the volume all the way up, the speaker "pops" back in again and works for awhile. Then, maybe 10 minutes later, no sound. I have been repeating this process so far.

I have an alpine 7995 receiver. I have 2 amplifiers. 1 amp powers subs. 2nd amp powers 6 speakers in car (2 tweeters/2 fronts/2 backs). All speakers are fairly new.

I already switched RCA jacks in channel ports of amplifier. Channel 1 is connected to the bad speaker. I put in channel 2/3/4 in channel 1 RCA - still no sound. So it sounds like the speaker, not amp. Right?

I dont know how to remove the cover off the speaker. There are 2 thin notches around the grill. I stick a key in it, pull - cant get the grill off. All I end up doing is scratching the grill. Any ideas on how to remove the stock front grill of a 95 Celica? I want to check the wires attached to it. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

You have to pull off the door panel to get to the speaker, 3 pins on the left, 2 screws on the right 4 screws on the bottom, one in the armrest, take off the bezel around the door handle and theres a screw under there too.

Thanks.

So, Ill remove the screws first, then gently pop the plastic pins. Then remove the speaker - rewire it with maybe electrical tape, and test.
