It's difficult for someone who wants a little bit of speed to go with Toyota. I have faith in their engineering, I still believe you can beat the hell out of almost any of their cars, and it will beg for more.
The Scion series is a joke, it's misguided marketing that led people to believe anyone would purchase a xA/xB/tC. The tC looks nice, but as I understand it, is pretty slow and feels pretty dead, handling wise.
At the moment, my Celica is up for sale. I love Toyota, never have anything bad to say about them, except they just don't cater to what I want. Speed, and good looks. Now it's all SUV's and this Scion crap. It's a shame to admit it, but "toyota sports car" is a thing of the past.
I'm currently looking at a 98-99 eclipse GSX or GS-T, Mitsubishi may not be the greatest car company in the world, but they have what I want. I tried looking for an mr-2 turbo, but apparently people that have them either destroy them, or won't sell them at all.
I know where your coming from , i miss my old prelude because of the perfromance

the toyotas great but speed just isnt there.....unless i upgrade to GT4 . The prices for a decent GT4 here have fallen a lot , theres a GT4oc.co.uk owner sellin his 95 GT4 with a long list of mods , 56k for £3500 !!!
