but what is the point in having a fast car? You just dumped $4000 into a swap, and can pass most things on the road, but once they turn off on the next block, does it really matter if you won or not? To me body kits make more sense, ya speed is fun, but having a nice looking car will get you more attention.

Best ricer move ever...i had a guy come in with an MX-3, bought underglows, 10 LED Eurolight tubes, another like 10 streetglow mini led packs, LED tire flys, a 5" monster tach, a 4.5" exhaust tip, and a BOV to hook up to his N/A car because he thought it would work. I told him it wouldnt, but hey...not my fault the guy was a moron.

Not everyone here likes ricer cars. I really hate to see such good looking cars like our celica's made to look like crap, in fact any car for that matter. But i guess it is all personal opinion.

Speed & looks are one in the same, they both garner attention. I think people with 6th gens should realize that the cars biggest shortcoming isn't how it looks, it's how fast it doesn't go. That's why i think people should focus on engine / performance first, and exterior last, in my opinion.

I could sleep good at night knowing my car was completely stock on the outside, but had a 3sgte power plant under the hood. I've seen enough 6th gens with body kits, but seeing one or owning a 6th gen with a good motor in it is somewhat of a rarity.

Maybe a car is an expression of personal creativity. Maybe people should be able to make their car look good if they want, or make it fast, and for those with the $$$$, they can do both. What is wrong with a car that looks good but isn't fast? Has "looking good" become synonymous with "being fast?" Since when? I guess we have the F&F to blame for that.

Quite frankly, I don't care if your car is fast. If it is and you're cool with that, great. I like fast cars. But I also like good looking ones. So maybe it looks good. Cool. Oh it's fast too? Great.

Frankly, I'm an irresponsible 18 year old, and if I had a 3SGTE, Id've been dead a long time ago, so I'll keep my neons, both inside and out.

A good example is a Carbon fiber hood - it isn't primarily for looks, it's for weight reduction to make the car faster in the 1/4 or on the street. Do you get what i'm saying? Looking good kinda is synoymous with going fast, because they're mostly performance or aftermarket parts that people use. That's the point of what i'm getting at. Racing seats, pillar gauges, air ducts, lowering springs, exhausts, intakes, they do serve a greater purpose besides looks, they're for speed.

Ok, I'm sick of people trying to tell everyone what they need in THEIR car.


Why is it so hard for people to understand that not everyone cares about having a fast car? Some people just want their car too look good! Get that through you're head, rather than telling everyone they should've spent money on performance. Do you think that everyone has the same opinions as you? Many people just want a nice looking daily driver, that still gets great gas mileage, and has stock toyota reliability. Or like me, I decided that I wasn't going to throw any money into performance on the celica, but rather pick up an mr2 for a fun weekend/good weather car, and keep the celica as a nice looking DD. Will I put any money in the engine? No. Will I buy some exterior stuff? Most likely. It's not your car/money/priorities so just friggin DEAL WITH IT.

all im saying is that i have a ricer car, do i care what everyone says, NO! but i could dump 3-4 thousand into a swap and have a nice car,but there will be someone that will have a faster car and make fun of my car for being slow, so i put all the money into making it look good cause you dont see a modified 6 gen, or ne car for that matter, thats look half way decent, but there the ones with 17,000 hp at the wheels and can smoke my car, who cares about that, let them smoke me and then ill watch the cop give them a ticket!

Best part about this guy..he tryed to race me with his autobox mx3..i downshifted and spanked him like a naughty girl..lol Then he tryed to race me and my buddy in my friends R32 skyline....yeaaaaaa..that was fun. It was like like...some one running trying to race some one on a GSX-R...doesnt really work. But after he ran us, we stopped at a light, he rolls down his window and goes "I LOVE THAT SOUND OF THE BOV!!! IM GETTING IT IN MY CAR!!!!"...lol..didnt even relize it was me sittin passanger side.

And like it was said before, most body modifications are made to copy a real performance body modification like the carbon fiber parts, wings, etc, so why make the car look like a LeMans racer if it's barely fast enough to get on the highway with all the fake body crap on it?

some people just don't think the celica is worth the money it takes to make it quasi-fast, because it also destroys the reliability and gas milage of the car, which is what IT WAS DESIGNED FOR. if you don't believe me, look at ALL the people who have done 3sgte swaps, or any swaps. then look at the down-time during the swaps, then look at the downtime after the swaps were "done", then look at the nickling and diming thta happens after the swap. it's ridiculous. it's not rare that you see a 3sgte in a celica theese days, because everyone and their mom has a 3sgte clip these days. it's rare to see a 3sgte in a celica THAT'S RUNNING. don't bring up, "bla bla bla but in japan the gt-four bla bla" because that's not in the US, where 99% of this site is from. The American 6th gen celica was designed for economic reasonability, while still having the looks and feel of a sports car. No modification is more valuable than another, because everything is RELATIVE. If someone wants to not compromise the reliability of their car for a motor swap, because of funds or whatever reason, that's their decision. if they want to put a huge spoiler on their car, that's the most valuable modification to them, because it's their car. the fact is, 99% of all import enthusiasts are "ricers". why? because every single one of them wants attention. the end.

hell, i know i am. i cut my springs this past weekend. why? because i wanted the car lower, but the celica isn't worth spending money on to get lowering springs or coilovers. that's my decision, it's my car, and if you don't like it, that's your problem. i know i have no trouble sleeping at night because of it.

I agree with everything you said except the above sentence. There are a number of us that have running swaps and, although getting the bugs out takes time and money, most are fairly reliable once sorted.
