ok.. i'm having thoughts of selling my celi ( frown.gif )
but before you tell me not to... just listen to it alll hahah

okay.. the celi is just starting to be a pain in the butt... i love her, and shes beautiful, but i dont know if its worth it anymore. it runs beautifully, no problems what so ever, all it needs is paint.. and new motors for the roof (because it broke again) and both of these things are really pricey to fix. i'd be fine with leaving the roof manual, but because my back is so messed up, i can't lift it without pulling a muscle or hurting for the rest of the day. now.. i could a) part it out and sell it stock b) take of the rims, and sell it that way. just remember how rare celi verts are up here in canada too... anyways, i can hopefully get around what i paid for it ($10,500) because miles are low and its rare and everyone loves it

now... if i do sell it... i'm thinking of getting a bike. My dad loves bikes and is always around them and said he might help me get my first one if i get my license... soooo... the way i see it.. i sell the celi for ~$10G's.. buy a bike for around $5,000. i won't mod a bike.. so i won't be wasting money on it. it can be my summer time fun toy (just like the celi), it will be friggen AWESOME to have a bike, and then i have my ****ty beater for any rainy days or for the winter.

do you guys think i'm crazy... do you think i should go for it? i'm just having trouble affording the celi right now, and i know i'll just want to keep modding it and spending money on it that i probably will never get back. with a bike i wont be wasting that money and i'll have a damn good time with it..

opinions (BE HONEST@!!) please smile.gif

-your back might hurt when riding the bike b/c you're in a crouched position. i didnt think my back would affect me when i was riding a bike but i definitely felt it.

you could try and buy the parts that you need for your celi from a junkyard.

thats what i did last summer when the roof motors went and spent $400 bones on them... now they're broken again not even a year later... brand new from the dealer is $400 EACH...

like i said.. parts up here are hard to come by...

and yes i have another vehicle for rainy days..

here is what i dont like about bikes.... if you buy a bike, you will fall off it a few times. that thats a proven fact. only thing you dont know, is how hard youll fall or whats going to happen to you.

keep the celica.

15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
Bike!!! spend around 5-6k on it and buy a DD for about 4k that you can drive on them rainy days. IMO, i would get a bike if my parents and my girlfriend were okay with that. Too bad they aren't

I agree. If you get a bike, you're going to get into an accident eventualy, it happens to everyone. Just hope that when it happens that you don't die.

On the other hand, anyone who has driven a motorcycle for any period of time is a much better driver than 99% of people on the road. When you start riding, you become about 100 times more alert than you'd ever imagine you could be in a car.
yeah i definitely agree with you
i'm not about to say i'm going to be invincible or anything... my dad raised me and taught me when i was learning driving to always be alert and i'd like to say i'm pretty good driver, ive had close calls like everybody else, but i'm not stupid when i drive and i always drive defensively... i'd like to think he'd be able to teach me the same way with the bike... i know i wouldn't be stupid and do catwalks or speed like an idiot... but you're right, sometimes its not always your fault and its the other people around you that are dumb...

thats my only hesitation about getting the bike... is the uhh... pain factor.. hahah

wouldn't there be a warrenty on the motors if they went out not even a year ago?? And plus in a celi you can atleast drive with four people what are you gonna do when you go out with your friends? I think you should keep it. Bikes = dangerous. I like bikes and all but its up to you.
bikes scare me...stay with the celi smile.gif

unless ofcourse ur on a dirt bike and ur on dirt...now thats fun biggrin.gif

bboy

..(formerly daily driven) 3S-GTE powered celica currently set @ 12psi..
unfortunately the wreckers didn't give out a warranty on the motors
they were out of a 98, so they've prolly had just as much use as mine got before they went out.. they're still 8 year old motors ya know..

I know what you mean, dude. I only date women that can drive manual; it says a lot about the character of the girl. Chick + 5 speed = 200% hotness increase. Oh sure, you can try to "teach" a chick how to drive stick... my celica has been host to three of them, but it's just not the same as meeting a chick and knowing she could hop in your car and steal it if she wanted to.

i rode for 20 years without a major incident (dropped bike, burnt calves, etc.). i saw my best friend go high-side in a turn while passing me on the right, slide into a level railway crossing and spend the rest of the summer in traction--didn't bother me the slightest. i loved the freedom of motorcycling, i used to think: if i die on a bike then i die happy. here is why i sold my last bike and got the CeliPig: people are fuking idiots!!! one may think with the growing number of motos on the street (gas prices and disposible incomes on the rise) cagers (car drivers) would pay more attention. NOT! i had more close calls in the last 3 years than i did in the 20 years previous. everyone is just in too much of a rush and they don't give a flying fuk about the other guy. i got tired of riding in a constant state of paranoid alertness, it just wasn't fun anymore. take an advanced rider class, always wear your armour and invest as much money as you can afford into a full-faced helmet. then, when the moron cuts you off when he's pulling out of the McD's because he can't judge speed and distance for something smaller than a Ford Excursion, at least you have half a slim chance of surviving.

my 2.

BTW if you're looking for a good source for replacement parts:

the 'vert motors are 252$US + shipping

I would do the safest thing. KEEP THE CELICA.

~snap

Past: V6 Swapped 6G Celica, E46 BMW M3, Jeep Wrangler TJCurrent: 850rwhp C6 Corvette Grandsport, Gen1 6.2L Ford Raptor
all bias aside, if you are currently not daily driving your celica and have a beater, buy a bike.

theres no reason a celica of any type shouldnt be a daily driver (even swapped IMO) if your going to have project cars go big or go home, i fell in love with the celica because its a sexy daily driver and the swap can be done and still be reliable.

the bike will be fun, youll feel like the hottest girl in the world driving it, and it will be cheaper on gas.

(on one condition though, dont leave us tongue.gif)

I don't know about where you live, but where I live, the problem is the exact opposite. I have friends who ride, and ride sensibly, but 90% of the time, if there's a fatal accident involving a motorcycle here, it's because some dumba** on a crotch rocket was playing Bryan O'Conner/Johnny Tran and lost it.

My take is that the odds are against you when you're on a bike. Doesn't matter how many classes you take, how "good" you are, when you're on a bike, the laws of physics (amongst other things) are against you. If your celi gets blindsided by a pickup truck, odds are, you're going to survive. If your bike gets blindsided, odds are, they're going to bury you in a ziplock bag.

i hear you guys.. and thank you for your concern, ive made up my mind though and will be getting rid of the celi when i have my license for the bike and find one to get... it is very sad, but the time has come!

i've decided on getting a newer (2000+) suzuki GS500
they're good starter bikes, engine isn't too big, but big enough to feel hot tongue.gif\

oh and thank u very much for the site for the motors... i will let whoever buys my car know that thats where they can get them for less than the dealer price!~

smile.gif

and i promise i wont leave!!!

Lissa rocks. Good decision.

Im planning on getting a bike next summer. I say it every summer that i want one but im getting one next year. I will keep my celica though! I say get the bike. With gas prices the way that they are its such a smarter idea. What are you going to get? I think im going to get a Suzuki SV650s to start out with. I know im going to drop that thing.
