I have heard rumors of putting a 7afe crank and pistons in the 4agze block...this was my first thought of a place to start my research. All i want to know is if its a possiblility... it would be wonderful to get the 1.8 liters out of a 1.6!

I think were just throwing together motor codes heh?

It is possible to stroke out the gze, I saw a HKS crank for stroking it out to 1.8 liters on ebay this past week, it sold for about 750 I believe

we didn't say you couldn't stroke one...but what we did say is no throwing out random motor codes...
a stroked 4agze is just called a 1.8l 4agze stroker..not a 5agze..or a 5age..

The 5A-GE
Once a very popular mechanical tuning approach to the 4A-GE engine, the 5A-GE engines proved that more torque could be had in the otherwise peaky nature of the 4A-GE. It wasnât without demerits but the 5A-GE did fare reasonably well in the enthusiast market. HKS makes a range of internal components to suit your needs and 5A-GE was one of them. The 11.6 compression kit comprised of longer stroke crank, 81.5mm pistons and various bearings, rings and fastener sets is the most aggressive. They are designed to be built using the 4A-GE and proved to be very high quality in design and materials. However, the 5A-GE isnât without pitfalls so weâll discuss a few here in detail.
The first thing we must note in the 5A conversions is the fact that the block needs to be modified somewhat to make room for the longer stroke crankshaft. The 5A-GE kit uses this long crank stroke to make approximately 1700cc displacement but slapping this crankshaft into the 4A block; one will immediately discover that it wonât spin without hitting something. No, itâs not a defective unit⦠So we modify the block by grinding away the inside of the crank caseâ¦. by placing the crank and working away where it hits. The clearance here should be no less then 1mm so you can avoid damage when thereâs engine failure elsewhere. Next, attach connecting rods and repeat procedure. One note hereâ¦never grind the rod or crank as this will upset the balance and strength of the moving piecesâ¦unless you are doing it for the purpose of getting better balance.

the 7age wasnt made from the factory either what would you like us to call it ?? all the "5AGE" is is a 4age that has been stroked out to 1.8L or you can just bolt the 7afe block to a 4ag head and you have close to the same thing so either way its a 4age head with more displacement .2 liters more

then call it a 7age. the 5afe is already a valid toyota motor designation, calling a stroked 4age a 5age is very very confusing. hell just call it what it is, a stroked 4age!

this is pointless all i was doing was pointing out that the term or code 5age was being used over on club4ag the home of the 4age motor etc anyways this guy i think is looking for info on the 7afe with the 4age head on it i think

JDM guy made me do it.
I have an ST. Would it be better for me to do just a 4agze swap or put the 4a heads on my car. Which would give more power?
>
A 3s swap is about the same or less than a good 7agte $$ wise.
Parts availability is better for a 3s swap. 3sgte is proven very
reliable. 7agte is an infant. 4age proven also. Buy Coomers Car
cheaper than all above.
