7afte TMIC? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #37088 7 posts Started by Projektminisupra
is a top mount intercooler even capable of being used on a 7afte... i have a 7afe and plan on beginning to buy all necessary items for turbo instalation and was wondering if it would even work for this engine and where i can get one if it could.

(i dont plan on running alot of boost.. at all. 10 psi tops so max hp that i can reach isnt really an issue)

Mini Supra... in need of mini boost.
the top mount is a good intercooler.... but you cant mount it on top like the 3sgte has. you can use it, but have to figure out a way to mount it up front or off the the side.

I figured... it looks like there isnt much above the engien room for teh 7afe... it was just a thought. thanx.

my 7afte is TMIC. it uses the bracket from the 4efte. but you cant really put a big intercooler if its top mount. also you always need to remove the intercooler when changing sparkplugs.

Pictures please.
with a TMIC, if your not directing cold, outside air over it somehow, it is pretty much usless.
i cant see why youd even bother with one, unless its a W2A top mount, with the heat exchanger mounted up front, like the 185RC, or the 205

What I would do is relocate the battery and then use a W2A intercooler on the right side of the motor. For space reasons I would find a smaller EBay unit like a spearco or turbonetics design, then youre good to go.

Then all you would need is a resivoir for the coolant/water mixture, a pump to keep it flowing, and perhaps a heat exchanger to cool off the fluid to keep intercooler temps down. That would make for a nice setup with very little lag and good cooling properties.

EDIT- Manny beat me to the punch....doh.
