Sounds from the steering system - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #37111 8 posts Started by valerit1
Hi,

In my Celica GT 95, when I turn steering wheel hard to
one or another side, there is a loun "clung" metal sound,
sometimes several. Any ideas will be appreciated!
Thanks,

Val
Could be a bush gone on one of the suspension legs, or could be a problem with the steering rack.

I said 'could' not 'is', so if anyone disagrees then don't slate me for saying it, I'm only trying to help.
could be a bad tie rod end.

Yeah, my nearside suspension squeeks too, going to give it all a good lubricating up when I swap the front discs next week.
Could it be your outer CV joint? Good Luck.

Actually, I noticed it happens when I turn AND touch the brakes?
i've got skweaky sounds, but i think that's the power stearing...i've also got a ripped boot on my axel, i'm told that if that occurs, i should hear loud clunking-clicking...but i'm not...that could be it!?
