Celica GT4 Wheel depth - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #37649 7 posts Started by alf15
Just a quick question, whats the smallest depth wheel you can get to fit on a GT4?

Would a 17x7 clear the brakes or would it have to be 17x7.5 or even 17x8?
It all depends on what type of rim and the Offset. The lower the offset is, the smaller wheel you can fit.
And why go smaller then 7,5J because thats the original (16x7,5J) size for the GT4?

JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!
I was just wondering i dont really know much about offsets, so the orginal size for a gt4 is 16x7.5J. Whats the J stand for?
i would contact MR.E here, he had a problem with his first set of wheels he bought, so he would know exactly what you need, you could probably search thru his old posts and find the info.

J stand for the width of the rim, measured in inches.

I've just put new rims on my GT4 and the manufacturer recommended a 7" width for 17s and I think the sit a little bit far inside the bodywork. The previous wheels wer shod with 235 rubber but seemed to reduce the steering response at low speed, (at least i think so as the new wheels steer so much better.) I'm saving up for another set of wheel because the ones I want I'll have to import and I can't finance but when the time comes I think I'll split the difference in widths.

The new wheels are 17x7 with a 35 offset and clear the calipers fine. The previous wheels needed a spacer to get clearence, which is illegal here, but they were on the car since it arrived in the country and had never been picked up on.

These are the ones I'm saving for that will fit.

Get in, Buckle up, Don't Scream!
Love the colour of you car riddles!! But i dont know about them wheels, not for a gt4...you should go for something with less flashy....what i was going to to was to spray the colour of my gt4 kinda like the colour you have but put these wheels on it:

Konig unkowns click here

and spray the black section the same colour as the car...would look a amazing!
