GT auto differential fluid - 6G Celicas Forums

Hi,

Witj considerable difficulties I got to my differential - %S-FE auto, behind the
transmission, "separate unit" only to discover it was almost empty! -
a quarter of a quart at best came out! Interstengly, I checked a couple
Camrys on junkyard and same - almost nothing in the diff.
The differential is dry, NO leaks outside. Now, what is between the trans and the diff -
even my factory manual does not say - they are joined together but listed
as a sepatate units. Anybody had this experience and any ideas?

Yes they are seperate in the GT. You'll loose differential fluid whenever you remove your axels. ATF Dexron II or equivalent is recommended by the Toyota Service Tech Manual. Look here for more information:
